Only one Major Problem!
Let me start by saying this was a gift for my dad. Hes been wanting a metal detector for as long as I remember. My mom and I did some collaborating and I purchased the Quick Silver on Amazon. My dad opened the package and was thrilled, he immediately opened the box and pulled the contents out...much like a kid on Christmas. He snapped the 3-4 pieces together in just a few minutes. The first thing he mentioned was the extremely light weight of the unit, its literally weightless in your hand.Overall the fully assembled unit is very sturdy and feels durable yet light in your hand, which will come in handy for those long days of hunting. We popped in the 2-9volt batteries (not included) and headed outside. My parents have a fairly large yard, and within seconds we were beeping and locating items! We agreed since it was getting late and the mosquitoes were terrible it would just be a test to get a feel for it, but after the first "detection" of course the shovel came out. The screen was reading the first depth indicator, and detecting coins. We dug out a pop can sized hole maybe about 3 inches deep and wow, it was an old dime! This answered our question about the accuracy, its terrific! We did one more spot, and after deep digging we came up with...and old pull tab off a can, funny thing is even the instruction book tells us this is the biggest annoyance found by metal detectors. All and all I must say this thing is terrific, lots of fun and a reward for your work. Now your probably asking whats the one major problem I mention in my review title? Well that would have to be my mom getting mad that dads out turning the back yard into swiss cheese! I see this purchase being very much worth the money. I would highly recommend this product!

Great Christmas present!!
My mother-in-law bought this for our son as a Christmas present. He loves it! It's very easy to use, he's 9 and can use it by himself. It's still a little big for him, but we all thought it would be best to get him a nice quality metal detector instead of a cheaper kids one. He has found a lot of stuff. It's mostly been rusted old metal pieces of cars and such, but he has found a few coins. It also gives him something new and fun to do outside. He's spent hours searching for treasures. It also comes with a small handheld metal detector that can be used to narrow down your search area after the bigger one finds something. It's lightweight enough that he can use it for long periods without getting tired, but also well made so that it doesn't break. His older brother and my husband have had fun using this as well. I'm so glad she thought of this.

Review and Tips!
OK...lets start. This is a good detector for starting in this hobby. Let me say a few things first. It has some simple features (like multiple tones and basic dissemination) for a base unit that work OK. I made sure to find a good Iron sample and rejected it. That did help. I also set my depth to the middle setting. The deep setting picked up too much garbage. You can use it deep but I think it needs a bit more power. It had a tough time identifying the singles. I like that there are different tones for different things. I have the head phones (to save the batteries) but careful they are a bit loud and I did not find a volume control. Make sure you carry a bag for your treasure and a couple of extra 9v Alkaline Batteries with you.The build quality is OK, what you would expect in this range. The Display is nice and tries to give you good info. Simple to use.It is fun to use as long as you remember that this is a base unit. swing slow and take your time. I found some good stuff (Clad coins and a nice junk ring). It takes a few tries to really get used to it.Pin pointing a object is a bit tricky...make sure you use a slow X pattern when you find something to try to isolate the single. The pinpointer that came with this kit is a bit weak, but it did help.Overall I say 4 stars for a starter, kid, or backup detector. This really does not compete with a better product. My friend gave me his Fisher F22 to try out (also a starter detector but in the low $200 range) it it was night and day better, but this one is still fun. I will upgrade later after I find a little more Clad =P

Great metal detector/pin pointer combo package for the beginner to the hobby.
If you are a budget conscious person who is interested in starting into the metal detecting hobby, this metal detector/pin pointer combination package is a good one to consider. I have purchased this metal detector and I am extremely pleased with it's performance. It is light, easy to use, and does not require ground balancing. The metal detector requires two 9 volt batteries (not included). The pin pointer (requires one 9 volt battery, not included) is a great accessory to have when metal detecting, to quickly and accurately locate metal objects in freshly dug soil. The pin pointer that is included with this package is ok, and will do the job for the beginner to the hobby, but when compared to other pin pointers on the market I would say that it is relatively inexpensive and lacking operating features that are found on more expensive pin pointers.Overall, a great package for the beginner to the hobby.

Good Value, Great Newbie/Dabbler Detector
Good beginner detector. This is my first one so still learning all the ins and outs of detecting. This one should suit my skill level fine for a while. It’s addicting at first, but will probably wear off and make me glad I didn’t spend a lot of money on a more advanced model. Already found coins in my yard and other metal trash by not discerning them out. It has “quirked out” twice. Not sure what caused it and haven’t researched it extensively but had to remove the batteries to “reset” it a couple of times. All alarms would trigger randomly non-stop just sitting still. Again this may be explainable since many things can interfere with electronic wave type devices like this. Haven’t tried the waterproof feature yet since it’s winter. Nice low budget, fun hobby that could actually pay for itself one day.

Found a 100 Year Old Morgan Silver Dollar with my machine (April 2021) Bounty Hunter Quick Silver
This was 100 year old 1921 Morgan silver dollar was found with my Bounty Hunter (Quick Silver) metal detector. For the price you cannot beat the detection depth, and quality. I also did some bench testing on it with various metals: copper, silver, bronze, aluminum, gold, and iron. The gold test it didn't do to well, but I didn't mind that as I was aware I wasn't purchasing a $1,000 gold nugget detector. All the other metals it picked up great, and I found it had a depth of detection from 6" to 12" depending on the size of the target in the ground. At beaches I do get some false targets at times, because of black sand and rocks with high iron, I kick the sensitivity down a bit, and then re-go-over the area the same spot, see if i still have a signal. I have also found at highly mineralized beaches I sometimes turn the iron off. That does help. Besides that, light weight machine, east to use, easy to understand. You will need the headphone adapter piece to go from 1/4" size jack down to standard MP3/cell phone size. You can order the adapter jack on Amazon. You will want headphones with a volume control, as the detector doesn't have a volume up/down control. Get your self some knee-pads for digging, a scoop for sand if you are on a beach, and make sure you have a good digging tool, and get yourself a pin-pointer. It does help. The entire machine is not waterproof, don't submerge it in water. It takes two 9 volt batteries. It is a single frequency detector, multi frequency ones are a lot more expensive. For the price, it is a great detector!

i didnt like this item at all
the bounty hunter quick silver is not a great machine after paying over £140 pounds for it its not worth the money this item dose not detect much at all when using in the field this detector only really picks up iron and has a major beep off if the grass or soil is damp , also this machine dose not work very well on dry sand often just beeps at nothing at any sensitivity level and gives false readings all day long, even with trouble shooting page that it comes with detector dose not perform the way it should for £140 pounds worth u can detect more with the pin pointer that comes supplied with this item then you can with the actual detector itself, on the brighter side the detector is lovely and light and does look quite nice other then that it is completely useless..
