All Metal, Quality Coated Connects and Full Shielded Equals LEGIT
Needed to extend a 170' CAT Run from data closet to one of my 4 Unifi Wireless Access Points (WAP. With this actual metal - fully shielded coupler featuring high quality coated connects and 'zero play' RJ45 perfect seating - and a simple but amazing Amazon Basics 25' genuine CAT7 600MHz Ethernet Cable - I LOST NOTHING (ping, jitter or throughput) within the complex - large home network that I have. I have a full GHz down and 50MBs up provisioned to my home. The problem was the the placement of the fourth WAP and the mitigating interference and distance per its placement limited me to my 24GHz channels. This Cable Matters All-Metal - fully-shield in line coupler and a good quality 25' CAT7 Cable enabled me to update the placement of the access point to where it was simple to utilize the 5GHz channels and the 60MHz 'line of sight channels' coming soon. I simply can't believe that this little device broke me out of the 200MBs confines via 2.4GHz and quadrupled my throughput by its ability to provide me proximity for 5GHz. It saved me so much time and aggravation risking a Keystone Connect or cut, strip and crimp for new ends - had I not found a coupler for which I had confidence. Further the updated application of spray foam in my attic had made a full replacement of the fairly new CAT6 Run that issued the first 170' impossible. This was the lowest cost - highest bang for buck in this whole Crestron Smart Home Saga. Excellent.

Very good quality
I have purchased these a number of times over the years from Cable Matters and they have never failed. Much better than the plastic ones you see everywhere.

RJ45 Shielded Couplers
These couplers hold the cable very well. No signal loss from sloppy connections. Good price too. Delivery was quick as well.

Solid extenders.
I had to rearrange some network cables and came up 6 feet short on a couple of lines. Instead of completely rewiring, I just used a few of these extenders. Everything works great with no connection errors or drops in gigabit speeds. Not sure how they'd work on really long runs though (my runs are max 50 feet combined).Pros: Very solid, well built with sturdy connections that won't become loose over time.Cons: A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

A great solution for those who need to connect high performance Ethernet cables
If you want to get the ultimate reliable performance out of your shielded Cat6 or SSTP Cat7 rated cables using RJ-45 male jacks then these offer a simple solution. The metal couplers provide a very easy connection solution and help prevent signal degradation and signal loss that may occur using cheaper plastic RJ-45 couplers. Whether you are using Cat5e, 6 or 7 this coupler's metal housing and strong build quality also helps prevent potential crush damage to the RJ-45 jacks that are plugged into them.

Well-made RJ45 CAT6 coupler
These are well-made RJ-45 female/female couplers with a housing made of stamped steel. While it's generally considered bad practice to use couplers to connect CAT6 patch cords, there are times when it's necessary. I haven't noticed any significant degradation in PantaScan tests on standard ethernet runs using two patch cords with the coupler.

I may not always use couplers, but when I do, I use these
I hate using ethernet couplers because I like clean solutions with cables of just the right length. Unfortunately I ran into a case where I wanted a shielded cable run to branch somewhere I wanted a white colored cable (where the shielding no longer mattered), and I couldn't find a shielded cable in white in the right length. So, I'm running a length of shielded black cable to a coupler and a length of unshielded white cable the rest of the way. Naturally I wanted either a black or white coupler if possible but while I was searching I found this: An unpainted metal (matte silver) coupler. I trust Cable Matters and I've used many of their products in the past so buying this was a no-brainer for me.

Cable Matters... so get Cable Matters =P
Just got it today and everything seems great! I bought these as opposed to the cheaper brands out there and have had previous good experience with this brand. Also purchased these because they were free one-day haha! The fit is a bit snug, but I prefer that as opposed to a loose fit. Since I'm just putting it to use now, I can't speak of the durability. However, it looks like it will last a while.
