Easy to use, convenient and comfortable
This is my third baby, with my first I used a manual tommee tippee pump which I loathed. I hated the effort and how my hands got RSI from pumping. With my second I invested in the medela electric pump which was a lot better but still with many flaws, mainly noise, wires getting in the way and constant leaks leaving me drenched each feed. So for my new baby I said ‘stuff it’ and decided to break the bank by buying the Elvie.I am so glad I did. I don’t make loads of milk - I never have so that’s not the fault of any pump so I can’t comment as someone who makes loads but this pump does easily get what milk I do make out comfortably. The positives are; It’s quiet - it isn’t silent as claimed but you can have a conversation whilst using it and crucially you can hear the telly without putting the volume up to 11It is hands free once it’s on and in the bra. I’ve used a hospital grade breast pump which didn’t yield more milk but did require me to hold the pumps in place. The great thing about the Elvie is that you can eat, hold the baby, stand up and answer the door etc all without stopping the pumping session. It’s comfortable- ladies you know how much your poor nipppes can hurt whilst feeding but the Elvie is very gentle. At first I was worried it would be too gentle to work but no, it pumps well without causing pain which is a massive plus.Once you figure it out, it’s easy to clean and assemble. The downsides; It’s design does mean that you have to lean forward somewhat to avoid leaks when you remove the pumpIt’s only suitable for cold water sterilisation - be careful here because I’ve read women have destroyed their pump by using heat to sterilise. It’s a bit annoying that I have to get tablets to sterilise but not a massive problem.Lastly it’s a shame it’s so expensive.Overall I really recommend the Elvie and am glad I don’t have another breast pump that I want to hurl across the room in frustration!

Definitely recommend
I was v unsure about this product but was desperate to try. It is such a big investment that I was really afraid. I work 9/10 hour days 5 days a week and express lots for my 4 month old. My first pump was a hand me down from my sister & was an older model Tommee tippee, it died so I had to buy another one. But I had the chance to find out that pumping was going to work for me before investing. I have my Elvie 3 weeks now & this product is brilliant. It’s quick, quiet & convenient! I pump when driving so that’s a great use of my time. I had read about cleaning being an issue but I have to say for me it’s been fine. I use a Tomme tippie electric steam steriliser. I always put it on the top shelf & try to pack it up well with bottles etc. (hoping that it’s not too too hot). The shield size suited me so I was lucky on that front. I love the integration with the app. I can control it from my phone which is really handy. If I’m doing something & I don’t want it on then I can just pause it in my phone discreetly. Eg, in a post office that turned out to be very quiet so to save me blushing (or humming), I paused it on my phone & started again in the car. Great! I do like tech but this is not difficult. My phone always picks it up & connects automatically. It cuts out automatically when full so you can continue with what you’re doing until you’re ready to empty.Cons - for me there are only two - it only holds 4.5 oz.... I’m used to pumping about 7 on a side at a time, so I now just stop, empty & start again. And secondly, it spills which is literally soul destroying. I have learned the very hard way so I don’t spill it much anymore but still have the odd spillage. Which is v frustrating as you have milk all over you, you need a spare top & it’s a bit rotten.

Minimal milk yield
I bought this as I'm exclusively pumping and feeding baby via bottle have a 3 year old and very busy mum. Claims seemed promising. My baby was born premature and doesn't latch for breastfeeding so very critical to feed him BF. I had another pump but started to get very sore pumping round the clock and didn't want to be tied down all the time to cords. This seemed promising to give me my life back. Unfortunately from the first pumping session with this it was clear that it was very much not what it promises. The milky yield was much less by about half from 120 per session to 70mls and thr length of time was double so pumping for 60 minutes have 70 mls instead of 120 in 20 minutes. I ordered the 21mm flange and tried all 3 sizes but all the same. It's also a very fiddly pump - keep all parts dry, position nipple perfectly etc etc if you are pumping at all hrs having to follow several of these particular instructions is cumbersome. I'm now having to order yet another pump and run the risk of my supply drying out due to reduced expression. I wouldnt mind all this if it was not so EXPENSIVE. One word - AVOID

I wouldn't be expressing now if it wasn't for Elvie
Used to have a medala double pump but after the touchscreen kept freezing I returned it and got an Elvie instead. I've not looked back. This is the only true handsfree and practical pump out there, no pipes or external bottles or weird bra. It fits in my bra AND I can hold/feed/change my baby at the same time. It's made it so much easier to express whilst taking care of my baby. The only thing is that the app is quite buggy, sometimes it creates random entries for 1984 or 2024?! It also looses connection and I then have to quit and open the app again. The stats are useless, that's one where medala knows what's better!Cheeky that the small shield is extra, you only get the larger sizes and elvie's small is medium sized for others (medala nipple shields and pump).Suction is good, I had medala on 4 or 5 but Elvie on 1 or 2 so I'd say it's stronger.
