OTTERBOX DEFENDER iPhone 6 PLUS/6s PLUS Case - Frustration FRĒe Packaging - BLACK

This is a solid case. If I drop my phone, I know this Otterbox will protect it from most falls, which I would expect from an almost $60 case.However, this case does has some flawed design choices that will almost certainly impact the longevity of the case, which is something I would NOT expect from an almost $60 case.First and foremost, the pros:Great protection all aroundDoes not add too much bulk given that the Iphone 6s+ is already largeNot slippery, feels great in the handsThe screen cover isn't all that badThere is a cover over the finger print reader that hasn't affected the reader itself (added protection against wear)Volume / sound buttons are a little tough to push in, but still feel greatThe cons:My two major concerns with this case, which will likely impact the longevity of the case itself, are the way the port covers open up and how much they open up.1) The port covers are great, don't get me wrong. However, they open up towards the front bezel. That means that the smallest part of the case will experience the most stress. If there is a rip, the rip will move forward towards the front part of the screen. Since there is not much material between where the port opens up and where the front part of the case ends, if there is a rip, it won't be long until the whole port cover is ripped off. Even if there isn't a rip, anytime you open up the port covers, you are putting stress on the front bezel part of the case. It will eventually stretch out and the rubber part of the case will no longer be securely attached to the case.2) In addition, the port covers do not open widely enough. So in order to get the power plug in or an aux jack cable, you have to force the port covers to open up more than what appears to be intended, meaning that there is more stress on the front bezel of the case than what was intended. If you use an aux jack cable like I do for car trips, you are essentially forcing the port cover to be open wider than what was intended and it will be sitting that like for some time. This will certainly impact the longevity of the case.I have included photos to show you what I mean.In the future, I hope that Otterbox will make the port covers open toward the back part of the case, since there is more material to support higher levels of stress. This would also allow the port covers to open up more (since the phone's ports are located in a more forward position on the phone). I realize that this would likely have an impact on the ability to dock the phone with the case on, but you still can't really do that now given the thickness of the case anyways.For now, 4 out of 5 - I will update this review in a few months to see if it holds up or if my concerns prove to be true.Edit on 10/17/15: I've dropped my phone a couple times already, and this case has absolutely protected my phone, so that makes me happyEdit on 1/3/16: Happy New Year everyone! I figured I would give you all an update on how the case is holding up. To be honest, it is holding up pretty dang well! I've dropped my phone a least ten times and there hasn't been any damage to the phone or case, so that is great! The rubber around the edge of the case is still holding up. It has stretched a little, but not to the point where it isn't connected to the hard case inside. I will still keep an eye on it. The only other issue I have experienced is water. I sometimes get a little water on the case and if I get it on the finger print reader, it WILL get under the screen protector. Once the water gets under the screen, it will spread across it, which causes the keyboard to be useless until I take the case off to get rid of the water. Other than that, I really appreciate the protection this case offers!

The phone this was bought for is only alive because of this case. In fact the phone that rides in this case is almost flawless after a year of being dropped under water multiple times (very briefly), lost in the mud, lost in a pile of gravel that was being excavated and found in the bucket of the excavator, kicked, dropped, and so many other things that should have delivered hundreds of deaths. Yet it not only lives but doesn't even bear any signs of its tumultuous life.2/14/18Update, last night while finishing the install of a three tier Type 1 Catch Basin my phone slipped from an unsecured inside pocket. Off it went on a 6 foot fall to land on concrete bellow, broken only by the 2 feet of water in the bottom. Knowing the only way it was coming out anytime soon was to pull the top tier, resulting in roughly 12-18" of mud falling in as well. I got down there fairly quick and dug about retrieving what I had assumed was sure to be a corpse, drowned and or buried alive of my phone. To my complete surprise it was still powered up, I sent out one brief text telling my better half what had happened and I would be late from fixing it's rescue. Then powered down, pulling it out of the case, wrapping it in a desiccant and for good measure, placing near a heat source hoping it would pull through. The case was ok inside for the most part(all things considered) so perhaps it might.Roughly 12 hours later with both case and phone cleaned up, including a little LOW pressure air to clear the ports, not much left to do but hit the go button and see what happens. Powered up, yet again it looks and functions like the day it came out of the box!Thank you Otter Products, LLC. No one else's product would have given this phone the opportunity to have that adventure, never mind survive it, you are on a level all of your own!

I have no problems with giving Otterbox 5 stars - I used Otterbox for my Iphone 4, and 5. Both had taken several drops, and came out with no damage. In fact, one even fell into water. I quickly retrieved it, dried it off and took the phone out of the case. Although the Defender is not waterproof, there was only a tiny bit of water inside. When I upgraded to my current Iphone 6+, The store did not have an Otterbox to fit it, so I went with another brand. Right away, it was obviously not up to the Otterbox standard. Wilth time, the "doors" protecting the ports broke off.The case itself was hard plastic with little rubber around the edge. Angular design also made for a sharp edge around the face. When I recently upgraded my Mini Ipad, I ordered the Otterbox Defender for both the pad and the phone. The Defender right away looks and feels like it will do a good job of protecting my devices. I also find it much easier to remove and replace the devices from time to time, and I especially like the fact that the outer case is all rubberised, and no sharp angles to the design. I little bulky to use the belt clip on the belt, but most are like that, and I've gotten used to it, so that's not even an issue. My only concern at first was the film covering the home button and fingerprint reader - turned out to be a non-issue, works just as well as if it wasn't there. . Overall, I would highly recommend the Otterbox Defender to anyone considering buying it, well worth the cost.

This case is tough and totally protects all surfaces of the phone. Couldn’t find in any store as the phone model is getting old. Other cases don’t offer the same protection. Glad to have found it on Amazon.

The case is great (Looks) and wasn't as big as I originally thought. The screen is a grease magnet but if wiped frequently doesn't cause issues. The case is able to protect against shattering from the screen, but this is trades off for the case flexing and bending if hit hard enough. Other than that, unless you drop it from a high position or throw it this case is great for people looking to protect their iPhone.

Since the first iPhone came out, I’ve been purchasing an otter box. Never been disappointed.Not a fan of the bulk clip though, somewhat unwanted.

Great protection. Had a few of this range for phones and tablets over the years and they’ve never failed me.
