Fantastic trolling motor
Very quiet motor. 24 volt version is much better than my previous 12 volt. Pushes harder and lasts longer. Paired it with lithium batteries and it's awesome out in the bay. I had minn kotas for years but am happy with the switch to Motorguide.

All Trolling Motor Designers Makes Me Scratch My Head
Pros:1. Good unit, lots of thrust.2. Remote functions are good.3. Anchor mode as observed is 2 feet in calm waters, 5 feet during tide change in California Delta ( I can't measure the water current).4. $700+ cheaper than any similar Minn Kota models (this is huge).5. Pre-made accessories to communicate with a chart plotter is readily available. Lowrance in particular. You can make a lot of hardware compatible if you're technician or an engineer, but even then, it's not worth it; too expensive, too many man-hours, and too much pain in the buttocks. Pre-made is the easy, cheap and easy way to go.Cons:1. Cheap remote control. Not even close compared to Minn Kota. Don't even get me started with the lanyard.2. We must hang the designer of the plastic parts. Why not just make the ramp decades solid since it absorbs a lot of shock? I would pay $50 more for this thing to be solid. When you unscrew the housing body, 3 pieces falls.3. Too much stress on the cable harness. Nearly all trolling motor manufacturers have this problem. Have these guys ever heard of 90 degree connectors or fittings?I would give it 3 stars but compared to its competitors, this is still the best bang for your buck, so it's 4.3 stars.UPDATE: The propeller came loose and I lost the nut kit. I'm not putting this on Motor Guide, however, good luck looking for nut kit. Other manufacturers are easy to find the replacement kit.

Fabulous motor
Awesome trolling motor. I previously had an Ipilot but this is more refined. The steering motor is much quieter and the GPS anchor system works much better. The Ipilot does one thing better and that's the remote with lcd display.Absolutely happy with this purchase.

Works great when it works
Bought this unit 2 years 6 months ago. Just out of warranty and it fries the motherboard. I was warned about Motorguide, but had the same luck with Minn Kota. Need a trolling motor here in Crystal River to fish the mangroves. Whats next? Rohdan doesn't have any support here nor does Motorguide. a$1000 a year for a trolling motors is getting expensive.

Check for the nearest repair center is. If it's not close don't buy it
Route following on Lowrance unit did not work. After multiple phone calls back and forth and much time they determined that it needed a software update that could only be done in a repair center. I'm in the upper Florida keys. the closest one is in Naples Florida. That was strike one. After two uses the GPS crapped out, strike 2.
