If you’re getting into fly tying, hook selection can be intimidating. These sets simplify your life by providing a selection if hook sizes in a variety of designs for a low price. Don’t hesitate to try these, but do not expect perfection for the price you’re paying. Of the 100 hooks I received in this specific set, only one was formed incorrectly from factory (Not bad for the price). However, the hooks are not as sharp as more expensive hooks (they don’t bite into your fingernails like premium hooks) but they are easily as sharp as bulk-bin flies from online retailers.Note: Some assortments come with the water tight, magnetic cases and some come with horrific cheapo snap-close boxes. The magnetic boxes are excellent and have no problem keeping the hooks organized. The cheapo plastic cases let your hooks shuffle around like an over-caffeinated blackjack dealer. Allot time to sort your hooks out if you get one of the cheap boxes.Suggestion: go ahead and buy some of the magnetic fly boxes in case you get a cheapo box. They’re cheap on here (amazon) and you might like them in the future to organize small flies or the expensive hooks you start buying after these. 👍🏼

I typically have a hard time when it comes to purchasing hooks in specific sizes and materials, so I usually prefer ordering assortments because I have all the options on the table for me to mess around with. The hooks were all quite sharp (as I pricked myself many times whilst tying with them) and worked well with the magnetic base of the box.In my photo, you can see how I tied a scud fly onto a size 12 hook and it came out perfectly with a wide enough gap and bend to secure any fish.Will purchase again.

Hooks are not very strong at all. And can be easily straightened out or bent. Not a good thing when trying to catch heavy duty fish on them.

Hooks are the best but it’s worth it to get the magnetic box. They sell the same box at Walmart without hooks for 9.99 so a couple dollars more and you get some decent hooks to practice tying on.

I was hesitant about purchasing because of the reviews . I received a case for the hooks that are wrapped in ziplock bags . Will find out if they are durable for trout ! Looks decent !!!!

Bought to practice tie jig hooks. Not a complete substitute for regular hooks. Some flies don’t translate to jig Hooke.
