Very interesting and helpful
This book is very informative for this type of crocheting. If you are a beginner,it helps you along the way and will make the stitch stay in your memory for a long time. Patterns are great, although the type of wool is a little confusing. I find it is better to test the wool out yourself and come to a decision as to the final item. It is a wonderful book for anyone who loves to crochet. Amazon really produces amazing books for the crocheter.

Learn to Do Bavarian Crochet (Annie's Attic: Crochet)
I found this booklet a little hard to understand so I went to you tube and watched how to do this stitch. Love the stitch and ended up making 3 blankets using it. They are so pretty and I was amazed that I actual was about to make this. If you have been doing crochet for a long time you might understand the stitch if not then check out you tube but buy the book cause there are other items to make; like a shawl and a purse plus a baby blanket and more. Love the pictures and the book. Happy crocheting.

Different Combinaton
Interesting design, a change from the usual. it is nothing but double or tripple crochet worked in back of a second row. the book gives pictured details which can be helpful. I found videos on line which explained in detail, I boght the book anyway to see a combination of designs and colors. It is a yarn eater. i was trying to use up my supply, had to buy two more skiens to finish project. compliments galore..

Beautiful design
I came across this book while searching for Irish crochet. I had never heard of Barbarian crochet so I wanted to try something different then just the straight single, double crochets that I always do. I have trouble reading the patterns but after I got my sister in law to read and show me, I got the hang of it pretty quick. Its really not that hard to do even for a beginner if you have someone who can show you. I am very happy I bought the book and wish there were move choices on Amazon.

Explains Two-Round Stitch Technique for Creating Diamond-Patterned Fabric
This slender booklet explains the "Bavarian crochet" stitch, which employs a two-round technique that combines treble shells, treble clusters, and back post treble decreases to create rows of diamond shapes. In the finished fabric, the shells and clusters are outlined by raised stitches that look like chain stitches. When each round is done in a different color, the effect of the outlining is particularly striking. The booklet cover photo clearly illustrates the look of "Bavarian crochet" fabric. The booklet includes no explanation of why the two-round stitch technique is called "Bavarian crochet". There are excellent photos that show how to use the technique to make squares, triangles, and rectangles. All nine patterns (baby blanket, vest, afghan, shawl, bag, scarf, hat, basket, table runner) use the same two-round technique.I purchased this booklet because I was curious about "Bavarian crochet". Although it is a fine booklet, I was disappointed to learn that "Bavarian crochet" is nothing more than a two-round technique for combining various treble crochet stitches into diamond-patterned fabric.

Very beautiful crochet technique
It is always fun to learn new techniques. Instructions and pictures take a bit to figure out. But it is worth it.The baby blankets I have made using this style have been highly praised.

Does what it says
A very beginner would find this book daunting but for some one with more experience it is a welcome change. Just remember that as with most U.S. publications in this field the crochet terms are slightly different to U.K. Projects vary from a quick -to -make scarf using this technique to a blanket. Photos for the unusual stitches are clear & the rest of the instructions are in the traditional written format. It would have been nice to have U.K. yarn alternatives listed but this so rarely happens that after some thought this can be solved. A worthwhile use of my Amazon gift vouchers & I would have bought this anyhow.

A Different Sort of Crochet
Originally I bought this book for a friend of mine on her birthday and she loved it. Once I got to have a go at doing some myself using her book, I fell in love with it as well and decided to get my own book. I have so far made three bedspreads and a fitted chair cover for a recliner chair using Bavarian crochet as the base. Whilst there are some complete patterns, the main benefit of this book is teaching the base stitch and how to use that to make squares, rectangles, triangles etc. If you are keen on crochet I couldn't urge you strongly enough to try this.

Good Book
Very pleasing book to look at, with some pretty patterns, and an interesting alternative way of doing crochet. I would say that the method is more suitable for shawls, blankets, bags, scarves rather than sweaters or waistcoats. There seems to be a glitch in the information given for the waistcoat - A Little Bit of Lovely, on page 18 - for finished sizes all it says is 'Small, Medium, Large', no centimetres or inches given, unlike the all the other eight patterns within the book. Nevertheless, a good book to have.

I am disappointed with this book
I am disappointed with this book, which I find to be more of a very slim magazine, patterns inside but generally could get said information from going online, I ordered it thinking I was going to get a more indepth book, I buy magazines for half the price of this book with more information and patterns in, unfortunately I was ill when it arrived, and when I did look at it, thought it too late to return it, I would not recommend it to a friend, do not think the cost of it is justifiable.

Bavarian crochet
Excellent pattern book. I did have a bit of trouble initially following the instructions as I have not done Bavarian crochet before but once I got the hang of it, it is very easy to do. I have made a couple of throws and adapted the basic pattern slightly to make cushion covers. I am very pleased with the way this crochet makes up and will be trying several more of the suggestions.
