AFI Richmond Full Size Headboard with Attachable Charger in Walnut

The headboard arrived in fine flat-pack condition. Nothing was dinged or damaged, no missing pieces, nothing troubling to report. All pieces are made of real wood, not fiberboard or particle board, like a different headboard that was also considered. The benefit of having real wood is that it glues up nice, and if you have any scratches, it’s relatively easy to repair. The directions are simple, sensible and easy to understand, though I assembled this in less than 5 minutes, before I even looked at the instruction sheet. It’s pretty obvious what pieces go in each spot. With this sort of furniture, I always glue pieces together in addition to the screws just to add a bit of strength to the whole thing. Everything went together fine, and fit properly. Once assembled, it mated-up just fine to the metal frame on my queen bed.The white surface is a smooth flat-ish white paint (which is what we wanted), not a stained white-wash. I also ordered a pair of the "Winsome Wood Night Stand/ Accent Table with Drawer and cabinet for storage, White" which matches nicely, for an overall simple, clean look that is neither overtly feminine nor masculine, in my opinion.Over the years, I’ve put together a lot of flat-pack furniture and one thing always seems to impress me as a thoughtful addition: the inclusion of “extra” screws or washers or nuts, or whatever small easily-lost parts may be needed for the thing you’re assembling. The hardware packet for this headboard included one extra piece of every different nut/bolt/washer needed. It’s the little extra touches that impress.I actually cannot think of anything negative about this purchase. It went together well, it looks nice, and the quality seems reasonable for the price paid.I’d buy it again, and I don’t have a problem recommending it to others.

It looks good and was easy to assemble, EXCEPT, one of the holes to was drilled wrong and the screw and nut did not fit. Rather than pack it all up and return it, with multiple pieces of cardboard and styrofoam, I pulled out my trusty Black and Decker and redrilled the hole. So now I have it all together, only to find that it does not FITthe Zinus smart base that I also bought from Amazon. Nowhere on the page that advertised the headboard did it say that it had to be used with the side rails made by the same company. Now I have a headboard with my altered drill hole that I now have to figure out a way to attach to the Zinus bed frame. WAY MORE WORK THAN I SIGNED UP FOR!

I have been ordering furniture online for the last 13 months since I moved into a 3 bed house with a Coleman inflatable couch, but I’ve had a migraine for the last 3 1/2 months so my reviews reflect significant impairment, a thorough use of customer service, an overuse of power tools (yes, plural) and testing to the limits the quality of construction and materials of every item I am reviewing right now as Betty Build It has a Migraine.This cute little headboard in walnut finish for a full size bed comes out of the box with the side rails needing attached. That’s literally the only thing you have to do. They even send 5 long screws for the 4 holes, giving you a spare, with the cams already attached. But the picture says to put the cams in a very weird, not at all securing the pieces together place, and that’s where my broken brain got stuck, on a bad picture in the instructions. Ugh. There are perfectly drilled, sanded smooth and beautifully, evenly varnished holes for the cams on the back of the headboard I did not see. For hours. I just thought the holes drilled in the frame were too big for the screws and had called customer service at the manufacturer, per the instructions on the instructions! And talked to a real, live person after just a few rings who took down my complaint of too big pre-drilled holes, I was going to email her pictures of the headboard not holding together, she was going to ship me a new one. Well I got to messing with it for the pictures, and thought there’s got to be at least be some way I can salvage this, or superglue it to make it work well enough for use in the guest room where it won’t get leaned on much. Well, I turned it over....and saw the cam holes....lololol so I didn’t need to get a replacement after all, I just hadn’t figured it out. And! I had an email from the rep at the manufacturer, and I replied back with the picture above and thanked her for the follow up. It’s a beautiful bed.It has a USB charging outlet to screw on!

This is a very sturdy headboard. I love the fact that is real solid wood. It is very modern and simple; and easy to match with other pieces of furniture. I found it very masculine. I ordered in white and it is true white. It has to be assembled but it was not that difficult once you make sense of the instructions. It needs two people to be completed, especially to attach it to the bed frame. One very positive thing is that the seller provides with an extra piece of every needed screw, wash, etc, in case one is missing or faulty.

This was very easy to assemble. In fact, the screws attaching the headboard to the bed frame went in so easy the ends of them went through the wood legs and came out the back of the legs partially splitting the wood legs. There should have been someway to prevent this from happening such as supplying spacers/washers. I was ready to send it back when I realized that no structural sturdiness is required to hold the backboard to the bed frame. The backboard is only for appearance and no structural strength is required. And, in my case, the back of the headboard is against a wall so the ends of the screws and the split wood legs are out of sight. Since the issues with the headboard did not affect its usefulness and appearance, the really good low price won out and I've kept the headboard.
