The Clean Eating Slow Cooker: A Healthy Cookbook of Wholesome Meals that Prep Fast & Cook Slow

Trendy, no really useful meals.
What a huge disappointment this book was. It has so much focus on “clean” eating, and not enough focus on foods that are easy to digest. There were almost no usable recipes for us. In fact, we did not use anything f4om this book. Instead, I will give it away. The font was small, and several items were printed in a color that was difficult to read. This is more of a “trendy” book rather than a usable staple in our kitchen. What a shame.

Very bland recipes
There are no photos except at the beginning of each chapter and even those are not identified as to which recipe they are. Recipes are disappointing in that there is a lack of seasonings and spices used, something that should give even “simple” food amazing taste. But these recipes are extremely bland. Even fresh herbs, which can be added at the end of slow cooking, are almost completely omitted. Every single recipe calls for the use of homemade stocks. Of course this can be changed by exchanging with no-salt organic stocks. It’s not a bad book, it has great advice on eating clean, but to be honest the recipes are quite yawn-inducing.

I've only tried one recipe so far, so I don't want to knock the product to much. That said, the food was bland. Reading through the other recipes, I now plan on adding herbs, various peppers, and etc to add flavor in the future. It will be an "idea book for days that I need a set it and forget it meal." If your not a cook and want a book that you can follow the recipe exactly (and turn out tasty), I'd recommend another book.

Delicious healthy food
When I got my slow cooker I had no idea how to cook in it. I was confused with the portions and the timing. This book was a great introduction to cooking healthy delicious food with a slow cooker. The recipes are easy to make and healthy doesn’t mean that the flavor is compromised, it just means that they are low in salt and oils. The recipes give about 8 servings, which is great for families. My favorite recipes were the herbed pork loin with fruit, the salmon ratatouille, the Thai pork with peanut sauce, and risotto with green beans, sweet potatoes and peas. You will feel like a professional chef once you start cooking with this book.

all with poor results. Also
These recipes are flavorless and unimaginative. We made roughly 10 dishes from the book, and tried small alterations to a handful of them, all with poor results. Also, the title of "Clean Eating" is vague and ultimately misleading, because they simply list buzz words like "organic" or "grass-fed" without much else in the way of substance.

Very happy
I bought this for my wife and she loves it. We've tried a few recipes so far and we really liked them. I just wish they had photos of all the recipes.

Great info and recipes, but no photos of dishes.
This book has some helpful information for anyone trying to eat less processed junk and more "real" foods. Most recipes are simple enough and ones that I can even get my kids interested in. The only downfall is the lack of photos. It's personal preference, but I like to see visuals of what I'm making before I make it.

Highly recommend.
Some different recipes in here, I've got a few slow cooker books that I use all the time, but I've done more recipes from this book.
