If you love squid, as I do, this is a great shortcut to a number of meals. I like to toss a can in my rice cooker along with a cup of rice, chicken or seafood stock, onions, and peppers for a very quick and easy (if not necessarily authentic) Arroz con calamares.

I didn't know what to expect from "ink sauce" in this product - it doesn't taste like a fresh ink sauce, it's like a mild, oily, tomato-based-but-not-sweet barbecue sauce with just a bit of ink, and a little more starchy thickness than it needs. It's easy to eat and completely inoffensive, but I like the more intense briny seafood punch of the plain Vigo squid packed in oil better. To be honest, this just doesn't get the reaction I'm looking for when I eat it in the common lunchroom at work.

Based on the price, I thought I was getting the deal I had previously purchased, 10 units. Instead, I got one small tin of squid in ink sauce for nearly $29 plus other fees. I blame.yself for not having paid more attention when ordering, but this outfit is definitely a rip off.

I could live on this squid, and often do. Put it on some coucous or rice, and then pour the remaining oil from the can on top, and presto!, you've got a meal.
