Beautiful Set - but poor eval for the trucking company who delivered it
I purchased this set for our new home and I requested it be delivered by Christmas. Well, the furniture company that it came from was very good and it was in Salt Lake on December 24, so I thought I would get it that day, it didn't happen. The trucking company that was supposed to deliver it that day called and said he didn't have a lift gate and wanted to wait until the 30th. The 30th came and he called again and said he didn't have a lift gate and would someone be able to help him take it down. What a joke. It was over 200# on a pallet and I paid $85.00 extra for the package to be delivered into my garage instead of the curb. It even said on the packing slip that a lift gate was mandatory. I told him no I didn't have anyone that could help him. He came over anyway after he grumbled abit on the phone. So when he moved pallet to the door of the truck and unwrapped it he noticed the two boxes under the table top and said "oh I can handle this" and then he noticed my husband was filming him (he quickly changed his attitude) just to make sure he didn't insist someone help him or I would have demanded my $85.00 back from the furniture company.Needless to say the table didn't have any damages and it took three people to put the table, pedestal and four chairs together. It took about two hours. Looks very beautiful and I am very happy with my purchase. The detail on the table and pedestal is very nice. I had purchased another set of the chairs from amazon from another company and all six fit around the table very comfortably if needed.

Decent Table and Chair set
To put this in perspective, pre-divorce I had a house full of Henkel Harris, Drexel, Baker and similar furniture. Most of which you would refer to as "heirloom grade" - about as opposite of knock-down (build it yourself) furniture as you can get. Getting setup in an apartment I wanted furniture that looked decent (I'm not a kid...Ikea was not on the menu) but that I wouldn't spend a ton of money on. This was my first purchase such so I was a bit hesitant. On Assembly: The set was ridiculously easy to put together. It took far longer to take the parts out of the boxes, get the Styrofoam and plastic off of them and remove the stabled-on straps then to put it together. While you do need a Phillips screwdriver, technically the only other tool is an Allen wrench, which is provided (5 of them, the same size, actually). My strongest recommendation would be to get a socket driver and Allen wrench bit - you will thank me later. There was one problem. The seats come with the back/legs as one piece, the seat/frame as another, and you bolt the two front legs on and screw in the three cross members. Three on the seat went together perfectly. One seat was inexplicably odd - the seat was 2" deeper then the others so the holes did not line up and the cross-members were 2" too short. I'm not sure if there is a different size this set is made in or how that happened as it was a perfect replica of the other three seats - just bigger. In any case, the seller made it right - sent a replacement seat in under two weeks that bolted together as easily as the other three. On quality: It is still Chinese made. Do not expect hand crafted furniture built with any sense of pride or quality workmanship. I am sure everything is off jigs on an assembly line. Once assembled the furniture looks good - it has some style to it beyond basic knock down furniture and on the surfaces normally visible everything looks decent. I intentionally chose a style of furniture that had a carved, distressed, aged look to it because I suspected this would be the case. Chinese replications of things like Baker (very smooth surfaces, very sharp angles) would look like crap. With this, uneven sanding/filling of wood, uneven distribution of finishes, etc. work - they fit the style and do not look like mistakes as much as intentional. There were no scratches (even though one of the three boxes appeared to have crush damage there was no actual damage) or blemishes. Now, that said, don't look at the surfaces not intended to be seen. The underside of the legs/seats/cross members/table in most cases are not even stained/finished. Again, it is what it is - but since it is about 1/20th the price of what a similar set from Drexel would run, it was very good quality for the cost in my opinion.Complaints: The only real complaint I have is that the legs of the base really should have been designed to each be about 3" longer. I am talking about the + shaped piece at the bottom on the single center column. I am an engineer, so some thing just bug me... The problem is that the these legs are relatively short, and given the height of the table this makes it a bit unstable. It would be much better on a hard surface but on carpet the table will rock a bit more than it should. On the Design: As described the table is taller than normal (measures 35 1/2" high). Not quite full bar-top height, but taller than a normal table. The photos do not seem to show this though - the table looks "normal" height compared to the chairs. Well, this is because the chairs are LARGE. I actually like it - and if you are a "full sized adult" you will too. I swear that someone had a normal table/chair set in AutoCAD and simply went in and increased it to 120% and built it from there.Overall: I like the set. For the price it represents decent quality. It is easy to assemble. I would buy it again.

second set came in BEAUTIFUL! Had to put it all together
First set arrived damaged (UPS Freight), second set came in BEAUTIFUL! Had to put it all together, it isn't easy but it wasn't bad for me, and it was DEFINITELY worth it!. They did wait until the damaged set shipped back to California before ordering a new set, and then shipping it out seemed like forever. It took several weeks but, as I said, it was worth the wait... it is a beautiful set and matched my heirloom hutch perfectly!

Poor quality
Terrible quality. I regret buying this atrocious set of "furniture". Please don't be fooled by the unreliable pictures featured with this product. The table doesn't weigh nearly as much as it should, thus causing the entire thing to wobble uncontrollably at the slightest touch. The "finishing" on the wood isn't really finishing at all. It seems like they slathered on the cheapest brown paint they could find and called it a day. But wait, there's more! The chairs have some of the wobbliest, flimsiest seats I have ever had the (not so) great pleasure of sitting upon. Oh, and they're not that comfortable either. As for aesthetics, they looked great in my space initially, but unless you're going for the worn-down-dilapidated antique look they seem to get after a year, I would suggest taking your hard earned money elsewhere.

Has proven to be a bad purchase
This is an update of my original review placed shortly after I received this table set. As I had stated in my other review I did have issues with it being unstable on the table top, it wobbled but we decided to live with that. Then we noticed that the chair screws on the rungs kept falling out so to correct this we replaced them with longer screws which thus far has corrected this and stayed in. However, the chain my 176 pd husband was using daily the padding of the cushion seemed to just dropped down from the top, like a frame inside had collapsed about 1 inch in height, so since we were only using 2 chairs at the time, I just exchanged that chair for one we had not used much, but since that time my chair and the exchanged chair has also done this! I am not sure how this can be corrected and I am not returning this whole thing. But I am very disappointed in this set, as it is very beautiful , was a good price,or so I thought so at the time, but now wish I had paid for a much better quality set. Just to warn anyone out there concerning purchase of this set, it has numerous issues for daily use.
