I'm using this for cooking turkeys, if you buy your stove separate from the turkey pot you don't have to get one of those stupid gas timers that cause so many problems. If you are an induhvidual that puts your oil on and walks away or someone that fries turkeys indoors with flammable stuff in the vicinity this is not for you. Appears well made, puts out waaaaay more heat than needed so you can heat oil up really fast then turn it down which is what I wanted. The burner is 4" not 6" as stated on some descriptions. After using I would say the 6" would be extreme overkill. With the burner barely on this keeps 5 gallons of oil at 375 degrees with no problem. Turn up to higher heat after putting the turkey in and it recovers the temperature quickly. The stove does appear to be plated but I think it is stainless, I checked it with a magnet and it doesn't stick. Cleans up nice and quick. Had to chase the burner threads (pipe thread) with a tap to get the hose to screw in straight. Definitely recommended for experienced users.

I purchased this thing 4 days before a camping trip with the scouts. Absolutely fantastic. Easy to read directions, no problems lighting up, and very stable. I like the 4-legged stand over the 3-legged one, partly because it's more stable, and also, because it has a larger surface area. Plus, you can't beat stainless steel. No problems with delivery and no problems with packaging. Well done, Amazon - thanks!

As another customer pointed out, this is NOT Stainless Steel. It looks like they painted it with SILVER PAINT. OR WORSE it could be some kind of galvanized coating. Do you HAVE ANY IDEA JUST HOW LETHAL THOSE FUMES ARE???? And yes, the burner itself is actually CAST ALUMINUM. Seriously?!? This whole thing is a fire hazard with a side of toxic fumes! How is this OK???? Both this seller and Bayou Classic have lost my business. Hey Barbour International! (owners of the Bayou Classic Brand), I'm quite sure I'm not alone when I say that I DO NOT APPRECIATE YOUR ATTEMPT AT VALUE EXTRACTION on what was once a good brand! If you had actually sold and shipped the product you claimed, this would have been a great product. Never will I EVER let you scam me again!!!! I'm SO DISAPPOINTED!Sidenote: These guys sent me 2 burners in the same box. Stacked inside of each other. No padding. I have NO EARTHLY CLUE how the product in the box arrived in one piece! When I saw it on my porch one of the legs was sticking out! I'm sending them BOTH back. Packed exactly the way they arrived. What use do I have for steel with an unknown coating and cast aluminum?P.S. Don't make me A-to-Z you because you refuse to refund me even after you've had your merchandise IN HAND FOR SIX DAYS!!! Shoppers beware, if you have a problem with these guys, Amazon will HAVE TO STEP IN to make it right. Be prepared. Document EVERYTHING.

Good product. Has worked well for my purposes thus far. The wind shield works very well. I used this in mid-Autumn in an outdoor setting that does get a lot of wind and the flame never went out on me. It does require some assembly, but the instructions made it easy. The construction is rugged and durable. I had this item hanging from a nail in my garage and it fell off the nail once when I accidentally bumped it and the item still works just fine.

I used an earlier version of this that had an adjustable regulator that was easier to control. The metering valve on this new one is not quite as precise as the earlier regulator controlled version so that's the reason for only four stars. I use this as a heat source while camping. In a vented Popup enclosure with a large aluminum plate on the top, it functions quite well to keep warm with a very small flame. Of course it functions to cook anything as well.

Well made (versus other similar units anyway- not exactly the Space Shuttle). Large size and reasonably heavy unit means you have a sturdy platform for large boiling pots.Silver finish looks good but is NOT stainless steel despite Amazon description as such. Probably zinc coated which turns iridescent colors when used for first time. No big deal.Long owners manual is painful to read. Clearly written by an attorney to CYA every possible safety concern imaginable. Manual does have some good info, but it will take you 2 hours to read through a bunch of useless and redundant warnings to get to the few truly useful bits of info the owner should know.Overall very pleased with this unit. Hard to find good seafood burners like this in local brick and mortar stores even in Florida. I love Amazon for quality, variety and easy ordering!

Order this burner for crab cooking and such. It Works great but it took 2 replacement units to get one that works. First initial unit purchased, the threads in the cast iron burner were threaded poorly and could not screw the gas line in. Amazon sent a replacement unit and it was missing the air/flame adjuster and screws. The box was split open partially on the bottom on 2 sides.I guess the parts probably dropped out thru the openings. Amazon sent out a 2nd replacement unit. The threads in that burner were only threaded half way thru, and the hole was not all that round so what was threaded wasn't threaded all the way around the hole. I took the air/flame adjuster from the 2nd replacement unit to use on the 1st replacement unit since the threads were intact on that unit to make a working one. It works great but a quality product..... it's not. If your patient or lucky you can get or cobble together a working one.

I have used a few other models in the past, and due to the heat, the metal starts to rust pretty quickly. The stainless on this model does not do that. I am extremely pleased with the heat this puts out. It heats up my oil much faster than the kits you see for sale in the big box stores during the holidays.

Nice purchase, used it all the time and does the job as described.. Would recommend to anyone..
