Great for immersing yourself in Spanish!
So I’m a Latina mom who didn’t teach my kids Spanish. I know bad mom. They know enough to not get lost in say Puerto Rico where my family is from. My daughters are all learning Spanish on their own using apps like duolingo. I bought this book to help them get immersed in the language. I believe if you hear, speak, read, write you chances of learning are greater. My 3 girls listen to Spanish music as well. But let’s talk about the book. It’s short stories with emphasis on vocabulary words. It also has the story in English so you’re not totally lost. It’s a good read as it takes about 5-10 minutes to read a lesson and practice the words. I highly recommend it.

Good Companion for Duolingo!
I'm using this book to augment Duolingo, and so far it's great! It has the same sort of low-stakes feel that Duolingo has: I'm learning, but it's not like studying a list of words or a conjugation chart then testing my memorization. This is much more organic, which is how learning a language naturally occurs. Like Duolingo, you'll certainly need to reference an outside Spanish dictionary or other resource from time to time, but it's a great add-on practice tool. The stories aren't long: about 200 words. And they're all-ages, so if you're an adult who feels insulted by kid-friendly stories about someone screwing up their courage to climb a big tree, for example, you might not enjoy this. Each story begins with a list of key words from the story, and their meaning in English. These aren't all the words in the story, though: unless you're pretty advanced, odds are there will be other words in the story that are new to you, and this is where the book works its magic. You can immediatly stop and look each new word up, but because it's a *story,* you can also just keep reading, and see how much you can pick up from the context of the words you already know.Once you've read the story, there's a summary in English. You can read through this and see how well you understood what you've just read. Note this is a SUMMARY, not a translation--it's not word-for-word. If you want to know every word, that's when it's time to pull out your dictionary and figure that out. After the summary in English is a summary in Spanish, which gives you another angle on the same story in Spanish. All in all, I'm finding this to be a great resource. It's not for an absolute beginner, but for an intermediate student I think it's a valuable resource and a very fun way to practice with the language!

Perfect for beginners!
This book has 50 short stories that are the perfect length for people who are learning Spanish. It also includes an English translation after each story, which is great for filling in the blanks when you see words in Spanish that you don't know. This was also an enjoyable read. Recommend!

A delightful collection of stories for those just starting to learn Spanish
I started learning Spanish recently, and this book caught my eye while searching for new resources. This book aims to help beginners build their vocabulary, improve comprehension, and gain confidence in language use. I liked that the stories use simple and clear language, which makes them suitable for beginners. This helps build confidence in reading and understanding Spanish.Another detail I appreciated was that each story starts with a list of key vocabulary words and ends with summaries in both English and Spanish. This structure is very helpful for learning and understanding the context in which new words are used. These stories also offer glimpses into Hispanic culture, which is a bonus for learners wanting to understand more than just the language. The stories are short, making them easy to digest, and interesting scenarios keep the reader interested. This is a good resource for those just starting to learn Spanish.

love this style of learning
I found these short stories and the summary descriptions really helped my learning of Spanish and ability to retain the information. They are written in such a way that you can guess the essence of a story even when you might not know all the vocabulary yet. This keeps me motivated.

Write decent
Quite a clever book that focuses on the right topics for the Spanish language enthusiast. Good topics chosen and great idea. Mainly good for vocabulary improvement. Maybe nice also to have direct translation but this is fine also. Good resource to have.
