Very cute
I love this think! Perfect for kids to play or use it as a Christmas decoration. Comes with enough tracks to assemble it around or by my Christmas tree and it looks pretty cool. Little brother loved it and he can't wait for Christmas to show it to Santa. Nothing fancy and pretty light. Very easy to assemble and I love that it has a mute mode so it doesn't get too annoying. I would recommend it for the price.

Simple, Basic, will make my child happy!
I would classify this as a "gets the job done" toy that's perfect for little kids. Grandpa's house has the big fancy Lionel set up with all the accessories and the fancy cars, and my kids LOVE it - however, they want to actually PLAY with it and not treat it like a museum piece like Grandpa wants :) I don't have the space nor the money for that kind of setup. This little train set is really no frills - it's basic. It has cars and a track. It's plastic. But I got it for a gift for my 4 year old, and he will love it because he can actually play with it, and at our house! Instructions could be better, but you'll figure it out. Once it's together, a young child will light up at it going around the track. It doesn't take up much room for a small space, even in their room, and you can take the track apart and put it away if needed. For the price - you really can't beat it. I promise your child will be so excited to get this at the beginning of the season.

Cute little train
This cute little train set is highly realistic and detailed. The train set looks and sounds just like real train. My 2.5 year old toddler boy loves watching it go around the track. Easy to assemble. So exciting to use this Christmas.

Very small and thin plastic
This train is much smaller than it appears in all of the photos. It would not work to go around a regular sized Christmas tree, but it would look cute around a mini tree. The engine takes 2 AA batteries that are easy to install with a small screwdriver. It comes with 3 train cars to attach to the engine. The plastic is thin and it takes some force to get the train cars to attach to each other, so I don’t expect them to last long, especially if used by children. One really nice thing is the ability to have the train play music or not with the push of a button.

Cute toys
Bought for my daughter, so she can play during Christmas time. The sound is musical, the quality is good, and the material is nice.

Kinda flimsy, no instructions included
Full disclosure- these are just my initial thoughts on the product as I intend to give it to my 6 year old for Christmas and have not actually put everything together and used it yet. Will update my review after Christmas. I’m giving it 4 stars solely based on the fact that it’s cute and I know my train adoring child will love it. Now, is it durable? No, not really. It’s plastic and kinda flimsy but the details are nice. Hopefully he won’t break it. I do not love that the track pieces don’t snap together and have to be held together by tiny plastic caps that my child will probably strow everywhere and lose. Also, I only know that that’s what those pieces are for from reading other people’s reviews because there are absolutely no instructions included with this except for some very vague instructions about the control switch on the box flap. This thing is supposed to have steam come out if you put water in it, but there are absolutely no directions whatsoever as to where the water is supposed to go or how much. I guess we’ll figure it out. Also, the box says for ages three and up, but I think it should really be five and up. This is not appropriate for a three year-old, especially given the tiny plastic pieces that have to clip on the track pieces to keep them together. A little child could definitely swallow those. So again, I’m giving this four stars based on the fact that it’s relatively inexpensive and for the sheer joy I know it will bring my son. If it totally stinks when we put it together and start using it I will definitely update my review.

It's junk...
I am glad I didn't wait until we decorate for Christmas to bring this out.First, the plastic pieces were already falling off, could not get them back on.Second, installed batteries, would not turn on.Third, track would not clip together.Fourth, no instructions.Fifth, it's kind of ugly in person.

Not worth the price
We were very excited for this train set to come in and while it will still be fun for our kids to play with, we are a bit disappointed. The train runs and the track was pretty simple to put together; however,>The steam feature on our train took a bit to get working. Once we overfilled it, it began to work.>The train is loud (without sounds effects on). The DC motor could be quieter.>The train moves around the track pretty fast, it would be better either with a low/high speed setting or just at a slower speed. For something aimed at ages 3+, it's just too fast. They don't need to race the train.>The train's speed is inconsistent (as it goes around the track, it slows and speeds up on it's own). This seems to be related to the steam function. You hear the steam function turn on and the DC motor loses power. The motor should have been designed to limit it's top speed so that when the steam function came on it didn't draw so much current that there would be a drop in the speed. If they had set it to run at a lower (more reasonable) speed, there would still be enough power to move the train at a consistent speed when the steam is being release; however, since the train seems to run at full speed, the releasing of the steam takes away power therefore slowing the train down. This could have been an intentional design decision, but I doubt it was intentional. The question is why they didn't redesign when they noticed it in testing? This has to be between the current draw of the steam function or the power distribution design. Either way the DC motor responsible for speed loses power when the steam turns on. Then speeds back up once the steam stops.
