Is the alarm progressive (getting louder every few seconds)?

It doesn't get louder but it changes tone. It starts with one repeated beep, then becomes two rapid beeps then changes to three. If you press the Light switch it goes to Snooze mode. To stop the alarm you Wed to press the Alarm button on the front. Hope this helps!

Hello Thank you for your question. The clock takes 2xAAA batteries. We recommend you use alkaline non-rechargeable batteries for optimum output. Depending on use and quality of the batteries used they should last at least a year if not more. YES it can - when the time is displayed you simply press the "hour" button and it toggles between 24-hr display and am/pm.

how do I register this for a full l year guarantee

I didn't, but have to say I have 2 of these, never used the alarm function but love to be able to get a 5 second light up when I need to know the time in the middle of the night. Excellent value
