Compared to Apple battery case, this is a gem
I returned two Apple battery cases because they never worked reliably. I went back to Mophie. Here are my comments:1. The Apple case is at least $50 more expensive.2. The Apple case promises a 40-50 percent charge. Based on the complaints here, I’m expecting to get about the same 40-50% - which is all I was expecting.3. This case is wireless to wireless, so it will lose some capacity, but it’s open at the bottom. The Apple case blocked the microphone, so you had to hold the phone at exactly the right angle for people to hear you, This case is completely open at the bottom, so there’s no blocking the microphone.4. Swiping up from the bottom of the screen, which is a very important gesture on an iPhone XS Max works perfectly on the Mophie, but not as well on the Apple case.5. It does get warm when charging, but not nearly as warm as the Apple battery case.6. It is no more bulky than the Apple case. In fact, I think they’re almost identical in this regard. It’s a battery case, so it’s going to be hefty.7. The buttons work just fine. In fact, they’re easier to push than on the Apple case and have a nice tactile click.8. It is smoother than I might prefer. In this regard, the Apple case is slightly better.9. Apple support is clueless about their battery case. They're not trained on it and know nothing about how it works, or the proper battery setting on the phone for best use. I assume that Mophie has the same excellent support I received on previous cases.10. I initially thought that charging the phone first, then the case and discharging the case first, then the phone, which the Apple case does, would be a good idea, but all it’s doing is continuously charging the phone until the battery case is drained. The Mophie drains the phone and then uses the case to recharge the phone - and you get to control when this happens.I’d say that overall, most of the negative reviews I read were way off base. I’m happy I retuned the Apple case and bought the Mophie Access.Update May 6th.This case is great. Does what it supposed to do.It’s advertised to give 30-35% battery boost, but I’m getting about 40%. That’s easily enough to get me through my day.Another advantage over the Apple case: The wireless charging is great, but if you want a really fast charge, you can plug a cable into the phone and another into the case and charge both at the same time - without removing the phone from the case. With the Apple case, you have to remove the phone from the case to charge both simultaneously.Oh, I had the opportunity to contact Mophie tech support, unlike the horrible Apple support, I received excellent support from Mophie/Zagg.

Not the best battery life.
The battery case itself is a solid one and I personally don’t mind the design. It’s fairly easy to remove the phone from the case when you figure it out and inserting the phone. The battery life when fully charged however isn’t as good as I’d hoped it would be. It simply doesn’t hold a lot of power granted it’s a small battery. Great for those who just simply need something to get by for a few hours outta their busy days for extra juice.

Defective, do not waste your money!
Can’t add a photo as I have returned the item. Do not waste your money. This case does not work. It fully charges in about an hour and it’s supposed to take 6-8 hours I believe. Then when you go to charge your phone it charges for under an hour and it’s dead. These must be defective hence the small price. I purchased a Casely Power 2.0 and I’m very satisfied with it.

The battery will charge 40% or so, not from dead to 100%.
Many people do not like (hate) these juice packs as they don't have a lot of power/battery. I get their gripe. Fortunately, you can buy these for under $10 so I've bought several of these for my old iPhone XS Max and I keep them charged and for my needs it gets my phone to 100% with no problem. Also, my phone's regular lightning slot slowly went from working to not at all so I have to charge it wirelessly and thankfully these j.packs accommodate this feature. The phone is old and about to be too old for the current updates so they've helped me keep this phone well past what I'd normally keep a phone. If you just have one, yes they only charge 35-45% max so I can see why so many were not happy.

Nice case. Expect around a 35% - 40% charge.
So far, so good. Case fits nicely has a smooth, rubbery feel. I like that the phone can charge with lightning, USB C, or wirelessly still. Given that the XS Max has a battery capacity of around 3100 mah and the battery in the case is around 2000 mah, I knew it wouldn’t be able to give the phone a full charge. At best, with the transfer loss, I’d expect 40-50% at the most if my phone was dead. First time trying this out, I was at 60% battery life. My phone got to 92% before the pack ran out. Not bad. I was still using the phone intermittently while it was charging too. Not much to really complain about. For less than the price of a cheap phone case, this can be had and it charges your phone. No brainer.***edit*** it’s been about a week. I’ve let my phone battery run down lower, around 8-10%, and then used the battery pack to charge the phone at night, instead of plugging it in. When I’ve done this, and not use my phone while it’s charging, the battery in the phone got to around 50%. Not bad considering that the iPhone battery has a much higher capacity than the mophie case.

Limited Charging Capacity
Because I have an old iPhone (XS MAX) I am a bit reluctant to invest in a new battery - only $100, but I thought I would try a charging case first. I purchased this case for $15 although the price appeared to have been tied to the color (other colors were as much as $30 or so) and I love red so for me it wasn't much of a risk. Here are my personal pros and cons --PROS:1. Love the deep red color2. Love the feel of the case3. Love the price (again, I paid about $15)CONS:1. It did make my phone VERY HOT - although I don't know if that really causes damage or not, but in the summer it might become an issue (because when the iPhone gets too hot it will shut down to cool off).2. It is quite heavy (not a huge deal).3. It adds enough girth that it doesn't fit in my carphone holder (again, not a huge deal).4. BIGGEST PROBLEM - I turned on the fully charged charger when my phone was at 13% during a FaceTime call. I continued the call for about another 10 minutes or so. Used the phone for various other things (checking email, web searches) while the case continued to charge my phone and when the case was completely drained of juice (well within an hour) my phone was only charged to 33%. That is a deal breaker. I will keep the charger and use it for a backup and I'm glad I didn't spend more than $15, but I would not recommend getting this unless you get a super good deal.
