Can the phone mount be removed to reveal a standard 1/4" tripod screw?

The phone mount is removable and a tripod screw is revealed, but I'm not sure if it is 1/4". However, I attached my Panasonic point and shoot camera to the mount, which I used to put on a standard tripod before it broke.

Does it work for cameras as well? Do we have to purchase a screw or adapter?
