... took a chance after reading the reviews and so glad I did
I took a chance after reading the reviews and so glad I did. We did not mount it per the directions. Instead, like someone else mentioned, we mounted it on a post but a little different than they did. We wanted the light post in a flower bed in our walkway up to our house. We bought an aluminum fence post that was six feet tall (post used with chainlink fence) from Home Depot for $8. We pounded it down into the ground about 3 feet. Assembled the light post (super easy, screw the three post together and screw on the top light). Than we slid the light post over the fence post. The post came up a little past the first connection. It fit very snug and didn't wobble at all. Took about 20 minutes from start to finish. The only thing I don't like about it is the color of light. It is a very white/blue light not a soft white. The design on the lamp pole is very traditional yet the light part isn't. As far as quality of the piece. It is good quality. Not flimpsy. The light portion is of nice quality. I could see where it would be top heavy if not mounted on a post like we did. I really like the overall look of the craftsmanship of it and am not embarrassed to have it in the front yard.

Works Great, Looks Attractive, Easy to Assemble
I had to give it a "5" considering the low price compared to other lamps that don't work well and are smaller and less attractive. This a nice height and nothing was dented or scratched. It was super easy to assemble with each section just screwing onto the next, and its easy to switch between off, bright, and dim. It has a beautiful overall look to it. After the first half day of overcast skies it came on dimly, but by the next day was quite bright. Of course, not as bright as a regular wired light, but it cast a decent light over a very dark part of our driveway and side yard which is what I wanted illuminated. The only difficulty I had is that I wanted to place it in a grassy section, and it comes with heavy duty bolts for mounting to a concrete or other solid base like a deck. Since the bottom inside is hollow and tapers as it goes up, I took a 5' flat metal garden fence post and hammered it into the clay ground about 2-1/2' deep so it protruded about 2-1/2', wrapped it with sponge packaging to make it thicker, and then put the lamppost over it so it fit snugly and securely. The next day it was extremely windy and snowy and the post didn't move at all, so just a suggestion for anyone else who might be in my situation. It looks wonderful, really beautifies the house, and works great!

Defective!
I ordered the Nature Power solar lamp post and installed in my yard. I was relatively pleased with the product until I noticed that the post was leaning. When I investigated, the post came right away from the base where it screws in. The holes where the screws go into the base were completely broken and the base could no longer support the post at all. There is not enough metal material where the screws are supposed to be placed to support the post. I called Nature Power and they told me to contact Amazon to return it because they would need the entire product shipped back and would not provide simply replace the defective base. He stated they would need to investigate the entire product to see what the problem was. Of course I was expected to pay the entire shipping cost. I logged on to Amazon to see about returning said product and the policy stated I would only receive a partial refund and I would be responsible for payment for shipping back to them. I am utterly exasperated. Do not purchse Nature Power products as they are shoddy, defective, and poorly constructed. Additionally there is poor customer service to compound the problem. I emailed Amazon about my disatisfaction and currently await a response.

Like it!
Works great- even though it's in the shade part of the day! I followed someone else's suggestion and drove a metal stake into the ground and set it on the stake. Very stable. Very good looking. Wish it was warm light, instead of that blue white light! Otherwise, very pleased.

Good light
I bough this light for my walkway from the driveway to the front door. I works great and was easy to install. When fully charged it last (on the low setting) until the next morning. The low setting is enough light to see my walkway even on a dark night.

Dark sidewalk now lit
Have an area where you dont want to run power to? I had a sidewalk to my house dark for those elderly parents negotiating the path and now is nice and lit! The added base was not study so bolted it directly from the post base and eliminated the extra base. Worked day one and is still going, impressed with the light. Thanks.

Two Stars
The lamp itself is well made but the post is very cheap. Expensive for the quality.
