Quick & Easy, Perfect fit replacement!
Our garage light had been flickering or not working at all for months. I tried a new bulb without results. Finally I searched on hear for a replacement socket, read various reviews and bingo, the issue was discovered!I read about the arcing issue with contacts on the inside of the socket. Before install I bent them outwards to make sure they would have thorough contact with the base of the bulb.I also read from others that the panel didn’t need to be removed from the garage door motor, this saves a ton of time.I unplugged the motor power source, checked that there wasn’t battery backup, removed the old bulb, and popped the old dingy socket out.I then took note of where the wires were connected on the two rear prongs... removed the bottom wire and attached it to the bottom prong on the new socket, then the top wire and attached it to top prong on the new socket - popped it back into the panel, screwed in a new low wattage LED appliance light bulb and the whole assembly is good as new!I also like that this replacement socket came in black and now matches our garage door motor. Pairing it with the low wattage LED appliance bulb made this a quick 1min fix that looks updated and works more efficiently too!

They work on older openers
I moved into an older house. The garage door opener isn't as old as the house but it's definitely aged. The 2 lights didn't work. I ordered and installed two of these and now we have light!Very easy to install.

Item fit garage door opener perfectly, and it works great. Glad I got 2 in case they stop making them!

10 year old liftmaster light kept flickering until it went out
I give it four stars because the plastic feels like a cheaper grade than the original. I replaced my light bulb times but it kept going out. The last time I changed the bulb I noticed it was not blown out. I googled my problem and common suggestions were to change the socket. I read the other reviews about no tools - but I needed a flat head screwdriver, pliers, and a ladder since my hand strength is not the greatest. Used the ladder to unplug the garage door opener which is plugged into the ceiling outlet (safety first). Took off the plastic cover and removed the light bulb (easy enough). Tried to take out the socket by hand but needed a little help from the flathead screwdriver (careful not to crack anything). Once it came loose I took note of the two wires connected to the metal prongs ( red and white). One wire was easy to take off but the other I need the pliers. As I took off each wire, I connected them to same metal prongs on the new socket. Pushed the socket back in place, plugged it up, and now it works. Now I know what to do if the other one goes out.

Works
Saved me alot of money because I thought I would have to replace the entire garage opener.

Gotta love Amazon!
Two days ago I came home at night and my Sears Craftsman 1/2 garage light wouldn't come on.Changed the bulb - no good.Reprogrammed the purple button - no good.Googled the unit to see what it COULD be and the options were everything from bad motherboard and worse.Looked at the socket and noticed it was corroded (see attached pics) and the contact had partially broken off.Ugh!Resolder or glue the contact back on - no dice. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to replace it now....not good news. It was until I ran across a vid showing the socket unit was removable and replaceable that my enthusiasm was restored!! Found this unit where else? Here on Amazon? Where else?Attached the unit a few minutes ago to the door opener and it works like a charm! Fabulous!!

very easy to install
our lights are 13 years old and always flicker or just dont work until I go bump, unscrew and rescue them, so figured it was the light sockets, sure enough these fixed them and they are no longer flickering. all you do is pull on the old one and it will pop out of door opener housing, unplug 2 contacts and attach to new one. just make sure you town off the breaker before doing this, you will be touching live power contacts if you dont
