Starting a Collection Agency, how to make money collecting money (The Collecting Money Series Book 1)
E**N
Basic Introduction and Overview
Michelle Dunn provides a very basic overview of what it takes to start a collection agency. It's a starter book - and is probably most useful for identifying areas for further research, as well as loads and loads of useful links, resources, tips and reference suggestions. After spending nearly a decade in the ARM industry, I've come to recognize just how challenging it is to stay on top of the latest trends, legislation, regulation and techniques. Some of the specific data in the third edition is already out of date, but Michelle does a nice job of identifying key sources for updates (as well as a caveat that it is all subject to change). The book is probably a bit too basic for an industry veteran, but is worth the freight as a reference and referral source.

Highly recommend!
Michelle does a great job at giving a general overview of the collection process and what is needed. There is a lot of information in this book which makes it a great value. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because it's more focused on contingency placements than buying debt. The author may not have a lot of experience in this area though.Overall a great book and I HIGHLY recommend for those new to the industry!

An invaluable resource for anyone in the debt-collection industry
This book is an invaluable resource for anyone in the debt-collection industry, particularly those that are thinking on opening a collection agency. It is full of practical recommendations and organized in a very detailed and systematic way from a list of considerations before you commit to your idea down to samples of the important documents you will need once you embark. If you are entertaining the idea of your own shop, this is a must read.

Seriously in need of an update...
Book has A LOT of extremely basic information i.e. stop at your local SBA for help in starting a business.Formatting is awful and difficult to read. The links I tried to pull up were no longer in use. I recommend it's taken down until an entire overhaul is done.

Starting a Collection Agency - Have not had the opportunity to read it.
I bought this book when I was unemployed, because I thought maybe I could start a business in collections. I was fortunate to get a job with a local bank and and very happy with my decision. Unfortunately, or fortunately I have not had the opportunity to read it.
