I would not recommend this part for an inexperienced auto mechanic as there ...
I gave it a 3 star only because I know how to modify car parts, for the inexperienced auto mechanic...I would only rate it at a 1 star. I had to modify 3 places on the manifold just to get it to fit, which ment grinding down places that were too tall and other places that were too thick. Plus the heat shield had to be modified in order to get my intake to fit right. For a part that is suppose to fit right, IT DOES NOT FIT RIGHT! HAS TO BE MODIFIED! I would not recommend this part for an inexperienced auto mechanic as there is too much that can and will go wrong if done incorrectly.I knew what to expect because I read reviews before purchasing this product. If you are inexperienced, it's worth spending the extra money to get one that fits as specified.

Not an exact fit, a lot of modifications are necessary to make work
Looks good, but a lot of grinding is needed to mask fit. Metal casting is poorly finished and bolts won't fit in head unless exhaust manifold burrs are ground down. ALSO. Exhaust manifold is thicker than intake manifold and must be ground down to be same thickness as intake so beveled washers that hold intake flange will sit crooked and not secure flush fit.ALSO Will not fit jeep wrangler with the shield attached. Part can work, but extra work is necessary. DO BETTER

It works with some grinding to fit the intake, but it's cheap Chinese cast iron
Well if you have a 2.5L, they can be a pain in the exhaust manifold department, but this replacement required some massaging with a grinder on the intake manifold to fit. I could grind the cast iron of the exhaust manifold, but the aluminum on the intake was easier and faster. Having put it on, it sounded so much better, but now time has crept by, it sounds like the exhaust manifold has cracked. Last replacement lasted 5 years before it cracked, this one not too long. They are made in China, so I'm sure the iron is of a low grade quality. So......I may have to break down and put a header on it or do a engine swap and eliminate the 2.5 all together...

Paint it!!!!!!!!
Whatever you do, remove the cheap heat shield, completely clean and remove all protective oil, then spray the manifold with some high heat paint.

Flange is 1/4 to thick causing intake leak.
The flange where the washers make contact are a quarter inch too thick. This causes the washer to set it an angle and not clamp properly on the intake manifold. Causing it vacuum leak which you'll notice with a high idle. The mating surfaces have to be ground down which is a pain in the butt. The consumer should not have to do this. This is a well-known problem that has been noted before to this company and they still produce junk.

Great OE Replacement
Purchased to replace a rusted out OE manifold on my 4cyl wrangler. Installed in minutes, no leaks. Did have to bend the heat shield a bit - OE did not have a shield. Highly recommend as an OE replacement. Always have had good luck with Dorman products.

Fits after some modification
I have a 1997 Jeep TJ Wrangler with the 2.5 I4 engine. My mechanic got it to fit but they had to modify some things. It is a poor fit. It is working well which is why I gave it an "okay" rating.

Works fine on 97 Jeep Wrangler 2.5
Worked just fine on 97 wrangler 2.5. Had to mod it very slightly to get it to fit past the motor mount but ,this was no big deal at all. If this kind of thing gives you problems, you probably shouldn't be working on you own vehicle.

Fit without expected modification
Fitted 100% I was expecting to have to grind some area to make it fit. I had to kink the heat shield a little, but not much more was done.Pros: quasi perfect fit for a manual jeep tj 1999.Cons: heat shield is in the way. some o2 ports are built in and had no functionality.
