The one I got has a flaw. ***Please read the update***
This is the second one I've had to buy since purchasing my aquarium hood about 4 years ago, so they certainly aren't the most durable electronic devices in my home. Unfortunately, these are the only ones I can find anywhere that will work, so I am very happy they are available none the less. Apparently, if these become unavailable I will have to trash my entire hood in a few years. The flaw I mentioned on the latest one is some kind of short that causes me to have to thump the fixture to get the lights to come on even after flipping the switch. So far this works every time though so I'm still giving it 4 stars. Thanks again for making them available.UPDATE 7/17/2019: 4 stars to 1 star: These ballasts don't last. This latest one was delivered May 17, 2019 and it had the above-mentioned flaw. It soldiered on for exactly 2 months, and then failed completely yesterday, July, 17, 2019. If I choose to do this again I will then have bought 4 of these ballasts in 4 years - the original and 3 replacements. (I can't remember if all the replacements came from the same source. But they were all like this one.) Come to think of it, I had to return the first entire light fixture to the local store from where it was purchased and exchange it for this one because the ballast was bad. That makes FIVE new ballasts in 4 years if I decide to do this again!I think I will now try to custom-mount a ballast-free LED bulb into this fixture. It will be expensive and exponentially more difficult, but I will only have to do it one time. I'm old, and, especially with this particular aquarium, it isn't easy at all to remove the light fixture all the time and work on it.In case anyone is wondering, I have always used the proper wattage bulbs and I turn the lights on every morning and turn them off every evening. I think that should be considered normal-enough usage. I have kept multiple aquariums for almost 50 years and this has always been the case. Every one of my tanks has had this same style of lights, and I can't remember ever having this problem - at least not more than once on the same fixture. I have a similar aquarium light that is underneath this one on the same stand. It is plugged into the same electrical outlet and gets the same exact usage - and the original ballast in it is over 30 years old!Again - I've been through 4 ballasts in 4 years for this particular light fixture and I now need number 5.... please think about that and give it a few minutes to sink in before you spend your hard-earned money. Apparently they don't make these things like they used to.

Amazon Primer Greed
I've been with Amazon since 2004 and am considering quitting. Amazon Prime movie has now incorporated HBO into many of the old television programs and movies in order to make more money. It's nothing but corporate greed. Just another slick way to pull money out of customers pockets. Not only that but when searching for something to watch I get a price of $2.99 but if you access Amazon Primer directly the price goes up another dollar. You pay $3.99.It's been that way for a very long time. Because of the pandemic it appears that there is no more 2 day shipping either. This I can understand but when it's advertised as 2-day but you end up waiting 10 days is out of the question.I don't have a problem with making money but I have a problem with being singled out to make more money off me because of my watching habits. As an example I love the series "Deadwood" and ever since it became accessible on Amazon Prime Ive watched it several times. Now, That HBO has been incorporated into my watching habits I'm asked to pay. More so, tv programs that came out in 'the early 60's that I enjoy are only accessed if I pay. Since 2004 Ive enjoyed being a customer primarily because of the 2 day shipping and easy access. I had enough of corporate greed. This year is probably my last year of accusation with Amazon. Even Bezos recently mentioned nothing last forever and I believe this is the beginning of the end of Amazon.

Fixed my Aquarium strip light
I bought this to fix my aquarium strip light. The old ballast went out as the bulb was not totally firing (only partially lit and dim). I took out the old ballast, installed the new one (very easy- the hardest part was getting the wires out of the part that the fluorescent bulb twists into). Strip light works great now- and costs less than half the price of buying a whole new strip light!

Exact replacement worked perfectly.
This was the same ballast I removed from my under the counter indirect lighting. Obviously shut-off circuit breaker before removing the light fixture. Take a picture of the wiring of old ballast wiring before installing the new ballast. For me it was quick and easy.

Ordered one, arrived DOA, asked for replacement, also DOA
I received this device and it did not work. Used a multimeter to test it (you can find this test multiple places on Youtube and articles) and sure enough it was defective (there was measurable resistance from the power wire to one of the neutrals, and it should be an open circuit). Returned and asked for replacement (because I do need the part). Tested it before installing. Same problem, 3 neutral wires were "open" with the hot wire, 1 was not (failure). Returning it as well. Interestingly, both parts looked like they may have been previously installed, so I'm wondering if they are shipping returns back out without testing them. Anyway, a waste of my time but I do appreciate I can return them.

Thank God I helped him become a "handyman"!
My son re-manufactured a couple of old "non-working" aquarium lights, with these parts, and a couple new "bulb holders" and bulbs, that I also purchased here and they both worked better than they have ever worked and it cost about a tenth of what new ones would have cost and it took "limited prior knowledge" and probably half an hour! Yeah!

Did not work.
It did not work. The light came on for a while then failed. Removed the bulb from the failed fixture to see if it was the bulb. Installed it on another fixture and it worked. Like others have reported, some of these are faulty. I do not recommend them

It fits and the bulb lights up
It fit in the spot in my aquarium light fixture. It was straightforward to install, at least for someone who understands electrical wiring. It worked, at least to start with. I have no idea about the durability of course.
