Excellent value for the money
This grill took our amateur enthusiast grilling to a new level. The unique grill surface allows grilling of vegetables and meat with even heat for that great char look and flavor without drying out the food. Flare-ups are way down and the food is protected. We noticed the flavor and quality improvement over open grills right away.It has three sections, plus a fast lighting burner. It does consume the gas so be aware; but you get great control of the surfaces. We look forward to using it as a smoker by putting a cast iron griddle on the grill plus using wood chips. The cleaning process is fairly easy with the included tool, some soaking if you prefer and some care. Any charred remains stay on the grill sections and out of the cooking bed, so it does not build up with debris.Check out the design and the price and you will see this is a great value. It looks sharp and it offers many cooking options for what could easily be a higher priced unit.

Nice grill - like the infrared
Bought it this summer. Has been a great grill so far. The infrared glass grates are awesome. Never have the cold spots. And I don't think it takes any longer to heat up than regular open rung grates. Gets nice and hot. Doesn't overuse propane. Quality of the steaks, burgers, chicken, sausages, veggies, etc has been delicious.Cleaning is a pain. Very difficult to find an appropriate size/style of cleaning brush. Cleaning the bottom below the burners is tricky. but the pan below the main burner section is only possible to clean if you unscrew half the grill. Really weird. Assembly was good overall, but it depends on your level of handy. For the money, it's a quality grill and I'm glad I have one.

Best for Searing
I was curious about infrared grills. My old Weber Genesis was getting to be a pain with all of the grease fires from grease that built up in it rather quickly. An infrared grill designed to burn the grease off sounded like a good idea. I didn't want to invest huge money in a grill without knowing if I would like the cooking method, so I picked this grill via a scratch-and-dent sale from the Amazon Warehouse for $218. (It truly was a scratch and dent and had a good sized dent in the hood. It was cosmetic only and didn't affect the functionality).Assembly was fairly easy. The grill felt reasonably solid. Not like an expensive grill, but solid enough that it didn't feel like it was going to fall apart.Performance is great for searing steaks and burgers. The grill lights easily and gets up to searing temperature. My old Weber only got up to searing temperature if the grease in it caught fire LOL. When new, the grates worked well, but the little holes in the trough tend to clog and the scraper provided with the grill doesn't reach deep enough to clean them out easily. The high temperature does a great job of burning off all the grease. The result is this grill smokes a lot when running. There is a tiny grease drip cup underneath, but for the most part it never gets used- I let all of the grease burn off. It's been more than 2 years now and I have yet to have a grease fire, so that part works great. The grill is not so good at low temperature cooking. I used to cook chicken thighs on the Weber at a low temp for 30 to 45 minutes which would melt away all the fat in them and the skin and leave a nice crispy outside. (Also a reason grease accumulated in the grill...) With this infrared grill, the temperature doesn't get low enough and it ends up cooking too hot and the outside is done before all the fat inside the thigh has rendered. After cooking these, I would always crank up the heat and burn off the grease, which this grill does well.I've now been using this grill for 2+ years and everything has held up much better than I expected. I've had cheap Char-Broil grills in the past that rusted apart after a year or two, but this one still looks pretty good. Except for the grates. They are a bit rusty and don't look very good anymore. They are still functional, however. I have never used the side burner other than to turn it on when I first assembled the grill. The igniter still works great, which is impressive, because even the Weber igniter failed pretty quickly, so I expect them not to last.Overall, I give this grill 4 stars. The poor low temperature performance and the poor quality of the grates cost it one star.

What you expect
I like this grill more than I thought I would. Putting it together is a bit confusing but not too difficult. There was one piece that I couldn't figure out but it didn't seem to make a difference. Also, one screw left over, who knows! The infrared burner is really cool. I cooked up some steaks the first time around and the the heat was excellent. Cooked them faster than on a traditional bbq but same good flavor and searing of exterior. The nice thing was no flame-ups. Quality is as expected for a $300 bbq grill. The metal is thin but I imagine I can get at least a few years out of this grill.

Awesome Grill; Nice Even Heat Control & Good Price
Needed to replace 12 year old rusty grill (Gulf Coast cancer) so I did the research & pricing. TRU-Infrared is awesome. Arrived fast in time for Memorial Day. Assembly was quick & easy which I didn't expected. I do not have a problem with not having an enclosed lower area on this less expensive model (paid $260). So far this have been a pleasure to grill with. Steaks, salmon, mahi mahi, burgers, brats, baby back ribs (4 racks on right 2 burners & 8 burgers on left burner and pineapple wedges on top grid with no problems controlling the heat). I'm sold on infrared technology and it definitely allows better grilling control and cleanup is a snap. Used the provided little scrapper that gets all the grill groves cleaned out then wiped with paper towels and turned heat on high for 5 minutes. Great grill!

Good quality, cooks great
Seems to be of good quality and works well. Assembly is not too bad but will take an hour or two. The two screws for the handle on the lid are awkward as they have a tendency to fall inside the double-skinned lid - but I used some tape to fasten the screws to the screwdriver (wrap it around both) and that did the trick.
