I'm not sure exactly what you mean. It transmits & receives only in the aircraft band. If you use it as a ground-based walkie-talkie (e.g. to talk with someone in another part of your house or yard),the FCC might charge you with a violation (if they notice or someone reports you). If you might interfere with legitimate aircraft communications, someone might report you. There are radios for personal communications like that. Note the statement at the bottom about fines and imprisonment! If by private, you mean secure/secret, the answer is no. Anyone with a receiver for the aircraft band can hear your transmissions. The A6 and the A24 come with an OPC-499 GA headset adapter. You can use that you attach your headset to standard GA plugs. Not sure about your particular PTT setup in the cyclic, but the comm will accept an external PTT in the mic line.
