For gardeners everywhere...a divine a gift as spring itself!
Suffering through 3 noreasters in less than 2 weeks, my gardeners soul is worn cold and thin. Martha's Flowers delivered upon my snowy doorstep feels as divine a gift as the miracle of spring itself! What pleased me most about this book is that these aren't rare or difficult to grow flowers, but rather the old fashioned garden flowers most gardeners will already have growing in their gardens; roses, peonies, lilacs, hydrangeas, ect. However seeing them so artfully, elegantly, and dare I say simply arranged, is nothing short of inspiring!I am a passionate gardner with a library full of gardening books, most of which have little practical growing advice. However, Martha's Flowers is filled with insightful gardening advice from which even a seasoned gardener may learn something new. If only I had this book when I started gardening, so many plant lives could have been saved! As a gardener, one of my greatest pleasures is tip toeing through my garden, gin and tonic in one hand and my secateurs in the other, gathering flowers for the house. In this I admit I am insanely envious of the talented Mr. Kevin Sharkey given carte blanche in Martha's gorgeous gardens, lucky duck!Unfortunately I don't have the space to gush over every single arrangement as I'd like, I will say that I have gleaned numerous fabulous ideas for my future flower arrangements. And happily expanded my gardening 'chores' with this creative book. For I simply must plant a few single petal roses for that glorious contrast in my rose arrangements, order love lies bleeding seeds, wrap my porch post with wire for my clematis as Martha does her granite posts, ect.I cannot imagine a gardener or flower lover who wouldn't adore this book! I can say the too few photos of Martha's gorgeous gardens are a bit of a tease, and I implore this talented duo to begin as soon as possible on the next book which must be 'Martha's Gardens', pretty please!Thank you Martha, thank you Kevin, for seeing my snow laden gardeners soul through to spring!

A must have.
This is a must have book for anyone who enjoys flowers and gardening. The book is split into seasons and features a hand full of flowers with their history, how to grow them, and other helpful tips. Martha also includes histories and personal stories about each flower. The other bonus is the advice and expertise on how to arrange the flowers. The photographs are also beautiful. Martha Stewart continues to guide, inspire, and advise me around the house, yard, and gardens. This would be an excellent gift for yourself or someone who appreciates gardening; you won’t be disappointed.

Love this book
Very, very helpful. I have a lot of gardening books but this book has some interestOmg gardening hacks in it. If you want to plant masses of daffodils, look for a spot in your yard like a hole or any already low lying area and place your bulbs there. Then cover them up with fresh dirt. This will raise the spot to ground level. No digging!

Inspiring
I'm a big Martha Stewart fan, and this is one of my favorite gardening books. It's almost a coffee table book because it's so beautifully done, but it's also very informative and inspiring. I really appreciate hearing about Martha's experience with and love for the various flowers. I sure wish I could visit her farm someday!

A Martha Must-Have
This book is essential for anyone who loves Martha Stewart. Her style is in full evidence here with gorgeous flower arrangements created by her friend and colleague Kevin Sharkey using flowers that Martha grows in her three large gardens in upstate New York and Maine. The book is divided by season and then subsequently by flower type. All of the stalwarts of the Northeast garden are showcased: daffodils, tulips, peonies, rhododendrons, azaleas, lilacs, alliums, roses, poppies, clematis, delphiniums, hydrangeas, lilies, sunflowers, rudbeckia and dahlias. Each chapter informs the gardener about the best ways to sow these flowers with information about their zone tolerances, their soil, light and water requirements and the best methods for planting and harvesting them, as well as troubleshooting advice. Following the growing and planting sections of the chapter, there are tips on how to use each flower in arrangements with advice from Kevin Sharkey about how best to showcase their form, colour and fragrance indoors. The full-colour photography is lush and inspiring with several photos of Martha's gardens and flower beds in New York and in Maine, as well as photographs of several arrangements on display in Martha's homes. Martha writes lovingly about each flower type, sharing stories about her successes and failures in the garden. It is essential reading for anyone in the Northeast who is interested in planning and planting a cutting garden, anyone who is interested in how to arrange these varieties of flowers to best showcase their beauty, anyone interested in beautiful flower photographs and anyone interested in Martha Stewart. The book is hardcover and beautifully designed - an enjoyable coffee table book for the armchair gardener and a practical guide for the backyard beautifier.
