Insightful and Fascinating
This book is filled with fascinating facts about the medieval era, and sometimes connections with modern day phrases that many of us don't know about. It's just a plethora of knowledge and doesn't read like a textbook-much more engaging than that. Well done!

This book covers a huge amount of subject matter & contains increadable art work!!!
Over all this is a beautiful introduction into the world of medieval amour weapons & combat . The color pictures of the battles are awesome & give you a great look at the art style of the time with the color plates. This book does not go into great detail about combat styles & if your looking for a book to help train you in medieval weapons systems this is not what your looking for. The line drawings are exceptionally good and translate the fighting techniques at a glance! This book is a great window into history and a nice balance of personal combat, siege warfare & many different medieval warfare strategy's covering a broad scope of a lot of different subject matter without delving deeply into any one area. It is straight forward and easy to comprehend & is worth the price for the line drawings & plates & paintings alone. But I can't help but reiterate that vast amount of medieval subject matter that is covered in this one volume! It is a great compendium to go along with training codex's, treatise's & other fight manuals! If you have a interest in medieval warfare this is a great addition to your library!

Great Overview
Great overview book for all aspects of a medieval warrior from the beginning of middle ages to its conclusion. Covers armor, weapons, tactics and more. Both individual and Group. Such as how certain weapons and defenses were used.

Good accessible book
I liked this book although it is quite shallow. This is exposed by the battles analysis eg Hastings/Agincourt, battles I have read a wide range of different books about from simple to History degree coursework and the analysis in the book is oversimplified and probably misleading with opinion presented as fact. David Starkeys history programmes were the same, quite good apart from the areas you have a reasonable depth of knowledge in, where they become quite frustrating.Ideal for a teenager with an interest in Medieval warfare. If Juliet Barker writes as a comparison A level then this would be an O level book (higher than GCSE/CSE standard though. Sorry prejudices of a former teacher kicking in).Definitely a book to dip into.

Wide-ranging cover of topic
As this book was a gift for my son, I'm basing my review on his opinion : a detailed informative book with lots of illuminating battle plans, line drawings to illustrate techniques and full-colour contemporary illustrations.

Good book
This is a very nice book, a lot of info, a lot of pictures and diagrams. It doesn't go into any crazy depth, but it's enough to understand the Medieval Warfare on a good level

A good read if you’re interested in the lives, training, and tactics used during the medieval times
Finally decided to give this book a read even though I read it a while ago. Love it! I am writing my first novel, and this heavily expanded my mind on the lives, training and tactics in the medieval times. Best material I’ve read on the subject to date, and it is organized with good pictures as well.
