ARISTOTLE’S “OUTLINE” OF THE SOUL: SENSATION-COGNITION-MOVEMENTWhen trying to compare this original work to Aquinas’ treatment of “The Soul”; I found that Aquinas actually used a variety of Aristotle sources to develop his “philosophy of mind”. Aristotle only gives the bare structural minimum here: “SENSATION-COGNITION-MOVEMENT”. Therefore; I do have to commend the volume for being valuable, but as a comparison to Aquinas’ work; I feel I made a mistake. You just get the bare facts here. You’ll need to investigate the additional Aristotle sources to fill in the blanks. But; there is a nice treatment of “practical-mind” here (realm of positing). Highly recommended; but just as a first look at “mind” by Aristotle.

A metaphysical classic well worth the price! The Greek text is essential, because the root text is so condensed any translation has to be at least half commtary n fact, the translation is quite good..

Unmatched philosophy of the soul; very insightful, along with Plotinus' writings, in Enneads (by Armstrong), on the subject matter. Also good to read with Penguin Publisher's "De Anima" by Aristotle. No serious researcher should be without this Loeb classic.

there is nothing one can say that hasn't been said about Aristotle... very useful Greek text...

I have learned to trust this side-by-side edition because it shows how Aristotle used to think in his own words.

If only more read scientists read Aristotle's works on biology and psychology - including Parts of Animals and History of Animals, they might far advance the fields. Take a look at the documentary Aristotle's Lagoon to get an idea of what I mean.
