I purchased this item as a gift for a co-worker. I liked the item itself to give as a gift, because the price range was just right, not too expensive, not too cheap. Absolutely, it was the perfect gift that I was looking for to give as a present, considering the fact that he IS the perfect cook! After all, whatever else would give an amateur/professional cook - herbs!!! I am EXTEMELY pleased. Go for it, worth the risk!

I love the idea, but.... growing plants re*uires certain conditions among which are light and water. I get plants growing on a south window, but they are weaker than their regular grow counterpart. First, you only have so much room in a jar, so more seeds, more they fight for root space. Second, since jars are darkened, baby sprouts have to reach upward to get to light. That makes them weak and long. Not sure they can turn into full strong adult plant. Dont even try rosemary. That one is hard to grow from a seed anyway. I will update this post later as plants mature

I absolutely love these little mason jar planters. I was a little worried after reading a few reviews as to whether these would actually germinate. The instructions are easy to follow. The basil quickly sprouted after about 2 days. The rosemary and sage remained destitute for over two weeks until FINALLY little sprouts appeared. The pictures I’ve posted are 3 weeks in. I’m excited to have fresh herbs around the house and to continue watching these grow. Definitely recommend!

The packaging and the set itself is nicely done.But the seeds, soil and growing, well, after two months- nothing has grown. Not a single sprig for all three.And before jumping to conclusions that I did not follow the instructions to the letter, not so. I did exactly what the documentation said.I've got other, healthy plants growing from seed that I worked at the same time. Different product line, same herbs, same location on the deck, different results.

Gave this to my mom and she’s really enjoying it! They grow quickly and easily. She says if anything, it’s growing too well and she may have to trim out some of the basil so they don’t overcrowd. She’s really enjoying it!

After one month of attentive care with bright, indirect light and perfectly dampened soil, I have only a few sprouts that have stopped growing. The basil popped up quickly, then died. Only two rosemary seeds sprouted, with very thin and fragile stalks. The sage sprouted last, then grew almost visibly to the skinny stalks on the right. However, they haven’t grown at all in more than a week. Previously when I have grown herbs I have the problem of over-abundance, so I opted for these small jars instead of my usual clay pots. What a disappointment and waste of money.

Im so disappointed in this product, I was so excited to try this. Followed the steps meticulously and still only the basil is growing and not even that well and its been a month. I started Cilantro seeds purchased from Home Depot same day in my own Mason jars with soil. And they are hands down triple the size of this product, and no comparison to the Sage which has NOT sprouted at all, and the Rosemary very, very tiny. I could NOT recommend this in good conscience sadly and I really wanted to.

CUTE sand easy to set up, I haven’t had it long enough for any of the seeds to grow. But it came very nicely packaged with instructions and everything I needed to set it up.
