I installed this board (Black) on a Fender Modern Player HSS I got that just did not sound very good at all.WOW!This is an amazing pickguard assembly.I took a bit of a chance ordering this board, but had researched it about as well as one could, which includedwatching Yngwie J. Malmsteen perform and talk about the Seymour Duncan design process.Some people may think this is a shred board (it can be used for this) but I find it as more of a well defined note tone board which falls right into what Yngwie was after with his legato style of fast moving notes that are tied together and yet each are very true to there specific harmonic.I am not a shredder but do like to move quickly across the finger board and this is the best no distortion single coil pickup combo I have ever run across.The sustain is about average to a little above (according to string height).Your main adjustment is on the bridge pickup and is 1/16"-1/8" from strings when highest strings are fretted, and the neck and middle are then adjusted to pull everything together (usually about the same, or close to the bridge).Yngwie sets his guitars up much closer than what I have shown (which is spec), and this is probably to actually reduce sustain as he is moving so fast from note to note.This board may just move to a better guitar with a faster neck in the future, but is good for now.
