SamsoniteLeather Expandable Briefcase, Black, One Size

Before I get this review started Id like to say that if anyone thought when buying this bag they where getting genuine leather at the $100 price point they must be using some kind of drugs. Some kind of serious, powerful, brain damaging drugs.With that out of the way, this is my second Samsonite Expandable Briefcase. 3 years prior to purchasing this bag I purchased the original Samsonite Expandable Briefcase. The original bag was great. I used it at least 6 days a week for 3 years often carrying around 25lbs of material (laptop making up most of the weight ). Of course as the years piled on the case lost its appeal as with most products. I loved the functionality and overall size of the briefcase. Most similar cases where either too small, didn't have enough compartments or just ridiculously retro designed. My favorite feature of all would have to be the middle zipper which makes the whole briefcase expandable.Fast forward and now I have this new fresh briefcase and man for the most part its an improvement over the original design. First the inner lining of the bag is now a light grey color making it easier to look into. Before it was just a black windbreaker material. Often times I had to literally flip the bag upside down to find some of my small pencils and things because I couldn't see them. They also added an additional divider in the back compartment as well as a an additional zipped sleeve and a weird Velcro compartment that can unzip from the bottom for whatever reason. The interior also seems to be made out of a more cleanable stain resistant material. They also changed the bags zippers from a shiny polished metal to black making the bag more conservative ( perfect for business ). Last but not least they removed that ugly metal Samsonite emblem for a subtle engraved Samsonite logo.The only possible downside to the cases changes would have to be the changing of the shoulder strap hooks from the polished raw metal to the painted black metal. The paint on the hooks chip as a result of their friction.In closing this bag is everything you could ask for out of a professional briefcase. Such a good briefcase you might even grow attached and buy the same model 3 years from now.

I have found this computer bag to be the best for my frequent business air travel and even daily use carrying my laptop to and from the office. This is the second time I have purchased this model, after many years of using its predecessor. Plenty of room for a large 17" screen laptop and all of the accessories, even large power bricks. Many individual compartments and internal pockets for your accessories and office supplies. The expandability means that I can carry all the documents that I need to have hardcopies of in case printing on-site is not available. It easily fits upright into overhead storage on any large airliner. The padding on the carry strap is easy to adjust and makes carrying it almost effortless regardless of how overstuffed I make it. The zippers are very good and I haven't had any of them break in years of use. The carry handles are rugged and comfortable in your hand. About the only complaint I can make about it is that the leather edging on the corners tend to wear through unless you take care not to pull it across the floor briefly before lifting it.

This computer/work bag is made of some high-quality material. It not only looks really expensive, but it is sharp looking with the black leather. I love how it can hold a lot of things and it is easy to carry with you. The zipper is strong, and I would recommend this bag to any professional who needs a strong, durable bag.

Pros: This briefcase has a very functional design that can hold a laptop and day to day work or school notebooks and papers. It is also great for carry-on travel. It is very attractive and has strong zippers. Cons: Some of the leather may be fake leather and delaminate from normal exposure to light, rain or moisture and oxygen. Mine delaminated on the top from exposure to the elements not from wear and tear. The bottom of the briefcase remained looking great even though it received the most wear and tear. Fortunately there is a good return warranty on this product from Samsonite. I just returned mine and they replaced it. One star removed for the briefcase wearing out faster than one that is made from real leather.

I purchased this bag looking for a more professional briefcase (with strap) than my old textile messenger bag. For a guy, I'm fairly picky on what the bag looks like, and was looking for some specifics which this bag met.The leather is a good quality and not as reflective as it looks in the picture. There is another briefcase, less expensive but similar to this one which I ordered at the same time to compare. The leather was not as nice, so I decided to go with this one.The bag itself expands, which I have not yet had to use, but has enough compartments to hold my 15.4" Laptop, charger, padfolio, ipad and some extra papers. The back compartment is divided like a file folder and the front main has a slot for the laptop and 3 other pockets I use for the laptop charger and calculator. I do some traveling, so I was relived to see this bag has the slip on the back which goes over a carry-on handle for getting around the airport easily. The strap is comfortable and has all metal hardware. I had several plastic d-rings break on me, so I made sure this one had metal.The front and back also have slim pockets to throw in smaller paper items, etc. which come in handy. So far, after 3 months, it is holding up very well and I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice briefcase with room for a laptop and padfolio.
