Cord Protector really works well!
Critter cord really keeps your cords safe and your pets away from them!Goes on easy, you can cut it to size. Does what it's supposed to do.Does it have a smell? Oh, yes, it does. In the beginning it can be overwhelming. What I did was soak it in the tub with epsom salt. Then I let it dry in the sun. It got rid of most of the smell and after a month, the smell was gone.It still works fine, because it's tough to chew through. It still protects your cords even without the smell. If you don't like the smell, just do what I did, soak it in epsom salt and let it dry in the sun or blow dry it.With time the smell goes away.If you're not bothered by the smell, go for it, your pets won't like the smell at all!Like I said, it works without the smell. I'm very happy with the Cord Protector!

Finally, something that works!
I have a very stubborn cat that was incredibly keen on chewing through a particular cord at my desk. I went through 3 different cords in various configurations that she SOMEHOW got to before I settled on the crittercord. And boy, I wish I got it sooner. This is the one and only thing that stopped my cat from destroying my cords. I tried sprays, tubing, tighter tubing, scat mats, everything. And this finally did the trick.Pros:-WORKS. I haven't tasted it but it must taste BAD. My cat gave it a few test chomps before she gave up.-Comes with a lot more than I needed, so I have more for future wire-chewing events.Cons:-The smell will fade, but initially out of the package it has a very acidic smell. If it's in an area you'll be close to it, consider letting it air out for a few days first. I had it at my desk and I could smell it for a few weeks before it faded away. Once you are done cutting off a piece, keep the rest in the bag!

HORRID SMELL THAT WONT FADE
So 3 people in my house were completely baffled as to why we were all smelling concentrated cat piss all of a sudden. My kitty had just exited its litter box and we became worried because holy hell the smell was So intense. After 10-15min the smell hadn’t dissipated so I threw out our mostly fresh litter in our litter box at that time, but the smell was still there! Like what?! It then occurred to me that we started smelling this piss when I was opening up my Amazon package. Sure enough, i picked up the package and it smelt like it was soaked in cat piss and perm solution. So I took the tube out of Plastic because surely the tube was fine and it was just the plastic. But no, everything smell like a pool of cat piss and it was so strong that filled my whole house. Completely Unusable!!! God-awful. I even put this tube outside to breathe for a week and it’s still intense. I can’t hardly believe it. Like how? Why? Perm solution and concentrated cat piss. Has to be toxic ..I will be returning both packs. One opened.

So stinky, but effective
So basically my cats can't chew my cords because they won't go near the smell. It really smells like burning hair mixed with a light undertone of citrus. At first I thought someone was burning in my house and I was panicked...no...no...just these stinky stinky cord protectors. I truly hope the smell dissipates because it's atrocious. It's in my room and I'm concerned I too cannot be around the cords. But indeed...it does work

Too smelly
Just a heads up that the smell is pretty strong and not pleasant. I will not choose this type for other cord covers.

Works great. But your home will stink for weeks
This product works great. I’ve been having to replace a couple of cords repeatedly because I have stupid cats that think electrical cords are yummy treats. Found this and it works great! You can generally fit a couple of cords at a time inside, depending on how thick they are. But the cover *is* stinky (if it tastes anything like it smells, it’s no wonder the cats completely ignore the cords now). That is NOT a citrus scent. After installing, definitely thoroughly wash your hands before touching your face. Also, the smell is STRONG. I hadn’t noticed it until I went out for groceries then came back in to my office and started worrying that there was an electrical short somewhere. Thankfully it was just the new cord protector. But it’s now been a week, and the smell still lingers. It’s nearly as bad as an unkempt litter box and I’m not sure I can handle it much longer. I’ve had an air purifier running in the room the whole week and it hasn’t improved things at all.Highly recommended if your pets are jerks like mine. But just beware that it does *not* have any sort of fresh citrus scent, as claimed in the description.

A cat deterrent (probably works for dogs too)
The media could not be loaded. This product truly works. My kitten loves to chew on cords. I cut a small piece and put it on the end of my laptop cord, one of the many cords she loves to chew on. As soon as I put the CritterCord on, she came up to it, smelled it, and and her face was priceless. She smelled it a couple of times, her face squinted in disgust and then she took off. So this definitely works.Pros: easy to put on cords. Easy to cut to get the length you want. Nice to be able to use it on multiple cords throughout your home. You don't need to use a lot, just enough on the part they try to chew so your pet can smell it.Cons: The scent is very strong. Using it works to keep the kitten from chewing but I also smell it (using it on my laptop I'm really close to it). I bet it will fade over time but initially it's pretty powerful. I put the rest of it in the garage because I left it in a linen closet and every time I open the door the smell was overpowering.
