Chronicles of the First Crusade (Penguin Classics)

Excellent
As others have stated, this is an excellent work putting together primary sources to present a chronological narrative of the first crusade. The translations are very good and easy to read. Each section has an introduction by the editor/translator providing background information for the primary sources, and the footnotes are helpful. Some background knowledge on the first crusade would be helpful before reading this work.

A Treasury of Primary Sources
This is my favorite book on the First Crusade. It brings together excerpts from numerous primary sources to create a chronological narrative of the events of First Crusade. If you like reading primary sources, this is the book for you.

Great book, used it as a primary source for my Medieval Europe research paper. The author uses multiple original source documents and weaves them together to paint a picture of the Crusade from multiple perspectives.

A great collection
A great collection of First Crusade sources that are otherwise very pricey and often difficult to find. Well put together.

Fascinating record
This is one, if not the, most rewarding book I've read on the Crusades so far. Christopher Tyerman does an excellentintroduction to a fascinating historical record which takes the reader into the atmosphere and places the crusadesinvoke. And his helpful segment prefaces reinforces the selected writings which follow. This Penguin work is anexcellent collection.
