necessary to get the full story
this is the 4th and final edition of the epic 1995 storyline, Age of Apocalypse. a storyline that affected ALL of the X-Men titles for about 18 months. this is an important story for numerous reasons, namely because of the addition of characters from this alternate timeline making it to the mainstream Marvel universe. Dark Beast, Nate Grey - the X-Man, Sugar Man, and also Blink lived on in this timeline and became immensely popular. this also saw the rise of artists like Joe Madureira, Steve Epting, Bryan Hitch, (yes, that Bryan Hitch!!!!) Jeff Matsuda, (who would go on to do design work for the Jackie Chan Adventures and The Batman saturday morning cartoon fare) Salvador Larroca, Terry Dodson, the Kubert bros., and Roger Cruz (the best artist on the series, IMO). granted, this is a 15 year old story, but it still kicks ass and holds up. I recommend it, for fans and first-time readers like myself. I just read it for the first time, because admittedly, I was never an X-Men fan, but couldn't resist my curiousness for a story that is largely regarded as the best cross-over from the X-Men corner of the Marvel universe.

Great read!
I'm new to comic books. This is such a great story. With all four books, you'll be on the edge of your seat. Take the tome to read it, you won't regret it.Seller had sent the wrong book, but was extremely quick to send the correct book. Great communication.

amazing
this story line is so amazing and anyone who reads comics should get all four of these books. The alternate universe is well thought out and aside from making it seem like no one can change their destinies, it is still superb

Fair price, speedy delivery
Very happy with this purchase. It was in good condition. The only reason for 4 stars as opposed to 5 is because there was a page torn out of the novel. But I bought it fully knowing it had been a used library book so I can't be too upset. It is what it is.

Excellent novel
This novel does an excellent job finishing up the story. It gives all of the finishing details needed to find out how it all ends.

Strong ending to Marvel's first big alternate universe story
This is a fantastic conclusion to the Age of Apocalypse story. All the storylines from the previous volumes come to a head here. There are some truly emotional moments (in particular the end of the Generation Next arc) and plenty of action as we see some twists and turns throughout the story. If I have one complaint, it's that the writers fell victim to a trend that happens a lot in alternate universe stories and started killing people off left and right near the end. It seems like every other page someone was getting killed in the final confrontation. Marvel does that a lot when telling alternate universe stories, probably for the shock value without having to deal with the consequences the way they do by resurrecting everyone in the mainstream universe. I actually went through and counted, and a total of seven characters are killed by the end, including **SPOILER** Havok shooting Cyclops, which should have had no effect according to established continuity **END SPOILER**Overall, still a great read and essential if you've already got the previous volumes.

A great Classic
I've owned books 1 and 2 for some time and decided to get books 3 and 4 along with the Prelude book to complete the set. It's completed a great collection.

Cool
Great conclusion even though it does feel a bit incomplete. Wander if there is some issues missing in the compilation

Great final edition (except the end filler)
I read the first half of the Age of Apocalypse back when it was originally printed in the 90's however I was never able to finish it as my local store stopped stocking it and I was only about 10 years old so couldn't really get the train to London to pick up the last issues. Finally this year I decided to finish the story and bought all 4 books on Amazon. I was not dissapointed. The world in the AOA is a darker, grittier more mature world showing how various characters would change given different environmental circumstances. The only negative points I could make about this final AOA book, is that the story ends (lovely) BUT then it goes on to include 2 issues of X-Man (#53 and #54) which are completely unessasary. They show Nate in a situation and you have no idea how it got there (having not read issues #5-#53) and as they would have originally been released several years AFTER the original AOA ended, they add nothing what so ever to the story and more than anything they ust detract from the true poignant ending of the story. There is also a short story showing the xmen universe back to normal, which was OK, but again, it detracts from the true ending. If it weren't for these filler stories this book would easily be a 5/5 but becuase of this, im marking down to a 4/5.
