Men's Pie Manual: The complete guide to making and baking the perfect pie (Haynes Manuals)

This is a beautiful cookbook. All recipes are represented by a beautiful and color photo. A standard by which all cookbooks should follow.

Wonderful recipes. Not crazy about hot water crust. A bit heavy for me but glad I tried it. Will try several of the recipes. Easy to follow. Fun to read. Good photos.

What a beautiful guide to meat pies. The title may seem a bit dated, but this book is a treasure trove!

First let me say I love this book, what man could not love a book called "Men's Pie Manual"?The book is well written and illustrated and I would recommend it either for yourself or as a gift.However as a man who has been studying pie making for a little while now I found 2 flaws in it.1 - What is the most common pie you want to make and eat?, it's a meat pie of course, or more specifically a steak pie, or a steak and ale pie, or a beef and ale pieSo in this book they have a beef and ale pie recipe (the only one) which the most complicated complex beef pie I have ever come across!. You need 2 types of meat, bones and 2 days at least to make it!, give me a break!. Ok keep this recipe in the book if it's so great but also include a steak and ale pie recipe for us mere mortals which is simple and easy to make.2 - The only pork pie recipe in this book is the Melton Mowbray pork pie, as if it's the only pork pie in existence!, and rambling on about it's PGI status, no mention of the northern pork pies which are probably far more popular and eaten much more often in bigger quantities.

My husband loved this book. Great recipes and a photo for each, which he really appreciates in a cook book. Hopefully, our own photos of delicious pies will follow.

This was a gift for a car guy that has several Haynes vehicle manuals. He got a big kick out of receiving a pie manual to go with his collection... he likes to cook.
