I thought this was pretty small for even hamburger patties
First off, I ordered the 8 x 8, and got a 12 x 6, and I'm not complaining!!! This is my first, and wasn't sure what size I'd need. Honestly, I don't know how you would cook on smaller than this. I used it my first time last night, made hamburger patties and grilled onions. I had read reviews, articles, tips and hints on the internet before even buying, and was prepared to heat it up slowly, so not to screw it up, success. What comes next, I wasn't prepared for. As mentioned, I thought this was pretty small for even hamburger patties, and onions (after the patties were cooked). I knew I couldn't fit 3 patties on the slab, so just did 2. Well, as the fat from the meat began coming out, it was dripping down the sides, used maybe a dozen paper towels to sop up the grease before it hit the electric burner (btw, I used a wok ring to set the slab on). I found that I should not leave this unattended for even a second, because in the time it took to take 2 steps to grab another papertowel, LOL, I got fire. A small fire that I quickly blew out. Then I leapt over to just grab the entire roll of papertowels to keep up with the grease. I sopped up all the grease when I took the other patties off and before putting the last patty on to cook. I found that it was much easier and less messy to do one at a time, ha, and no fires! Then came the onions. Again, I couldn't put them all on to cook, so did it in 2 batches, again, fire-free!! No, my next lesson... while the food was good, we really aren't big on salt. I cook with it, but we don't use it after food is cooked. And since this was cooked on salt, didn't use it when preparing. However, the food, meat and onions, turned out salty. Now, this isn't like table salt, over-salty, it was just more than our liking. My lesson? Yes, I was thinking that I'd heat up the block to the heat I use in my cast iron skillets for cooking these...wrong. It clearly says to get that temp up, or your food with be like it's marinating, and that's exactly what it was doing, marinating in salt! So, get that temp up to 500 degrees to avoid the saltiness, don't put too much meat that will produce THAT much grease (and I use 90% lean burger meat) at the same time. I absolutely detest cooking, and this took much longer than I ever want to spend in the kitchen, but, I have this strange desire to do this again, asap. Also, cleanup was very easy. Yeah, it took 3 hours for the block to cool off completely before I could clean it, but I bought the nifty scrubber thing with this, and it worked perfectly. I put water on the scrubber, not on the block, and just dried it with a papertowel. I do love the look of it on my stove, just hate how every time I see it, it keeps calling me, "cook on me". Next purchase, blinders and earplugs!

Seller stood by their product
I was so excited to try but the slab came in multiple pieces. My bad, I didn’t see that there was no returns even though it was obvious that it was poorly made and fractured in multiple places. Update, seller reached out and sent a new slab. It does amazing things to chicken, steak, and hamburgers! So moist and flavorful, I can’t wait to try grilling other food on it. Definitely would recommend

Good buy!
This was a gift for my husband. He received a salt block from Florida and loved it so much, that he wanted another one. There is so much you can do with two. I see no difference between the salt blocks except this one was cheaper in price. I highly recommend purchasing a plate holder for the salt block, because it gets very hot and you will not be able to move it until it cools. My husband is the cook, but I reap the benefits. Dishes made on this are delicious..

ARRIVED BROKEN
Was a Christmas gift, and just opened it to use it, and it was broken. Very disappointed. Wish I opened it earlier to find this out, so that I could return it.
