how long is the arm at full length?

From the ball joint that inserts into the center back of the mirror to where it attaches to the clamp measures 10 1/2 inches. Depending upon how the clamp is positioned, a slight gain or loss of extension may be possible.

I'd like to find convex mirror for inside a foyer, 24 inch or 36 inch, that would allow us to view up to opposite sides of a room. Any thoughts?

I probably wouldn't recommend this for that application. It's okay, but it definitely isn't meant to look across a room with.

Could you clip this mirror onto a wheelchair?

I think you could, if the arm railing is of the right dimensions, and preferably square. But if they're round (as most probably are, then I don't think it'd stay in place, although a liberal application of duct tape on the spot that they clip to might work. I hope this helps...

Would this work on a wheelchair for going backwards?

It should as long as there is something to clip the mirror on to. I wanted it for my computer monitor so that I could see people coming up behind me in my cubicle. I could not get it to clip on to my monitor because it was to thick. But I am able to stand it up.
