Guard Security Gotham Heavy Duty Mortise Attached Lockset (Right Hand, Polished Brass)

I was cheaper than most hardware stores I’ve been to. I got someone to install it. It’s not turning right but it locks well so I can live with the installation job.

Installed great. Works as it should. So far working good.

Our old mortise lock (about 80 years old) stopped working properly. This new lock set was simple to install with minimal carpentry work. Fits and works great!

I bought this because my old mortise lock was not functioning properly. This one is perfect! It came quickly. It was easy to install. All parts work great! Recommended!

I received the package today 2/9/2021 and haven't installed the lock yet. The lock mortise weighs as much as commercial ones costing $400. I didn't disassemble it but It's clear some considerable thought went into making this; it's not just a mass of pig iron intended to make one feel good about their purchase due to the mass of the lock.The action of the latch is smooth, although it seems a little easier turning one way than the other. The deadbolt is a bit stiff but moves with a satisfying snap. The face plate of the mortise is stout and clearly brass (has the right hue and is not magnetic). The day/night switch does what it's supposed to. Also, the cylinder accepts a standard SC1 key so re-keying should be simple.So that was all the good. Now we get to the remaining things.The knobs are highly polished and non-magnetic. They might be brass but I'm inclined to think they may be some non-ferrous metal like aluminum or zinc with a shiny brass coating. Their finish reminds me of the cheap door knobs on cheap locks you get at the big box store for $18. No bueno. The interior and exterior face plates have the same shiny brass coating as the knobs; like exactly the same finish. The faceplates, however, are steel as they're highly attracted to magnets. So too is the strike plate, and it has the same too shiny brass finish. The spindles are not at all as shown on Amazon page. The spindles and knobs delivered with my lock are pre-set in the faceplates, not at all like as shown in the Amazon page video. This means that the knobs don't have screws on them to affix them to the spindles. This appears to be achieved by crimping the stem of the knob to what I imagine is a tube with a round exterior surface and a square interior surface - the square interior surface mating with the very steel spindle that's set up with a spring so it only enters the mortise lock enough to turn the appropriate half of the latch mechanism. It's possibly an improvement over the advertised split spindle, but only time may tell. The screws which hold the cylinder in place are steel, too, even if they have a brass finish. I think they should be about 1/16" longer than they are because when properly adjusted to retain the culcinder they sit pretty low in the lock face plate. It should also be mentioned that the Amazon page shows the interior and exterior plates as having four screw holes each at the four corners. The exterior plate I received has zero screw holes and the interior plate has three; one at the top to screw into the door, and two on either side (top/bottom) of the interior knob to fasten to the through posts on the exterior plate.The backset is just a hair over 2.5" so I'm wondering if this isn't a 65mm (~ 2-35/64") backset lock from the non-imperial parts of the world.Well, I've written too much but hopefully this helps someone. If I do install this I may give some more feedback/change the rating.

One of the less expensive mortise exterior sets that I've been able to find, but it's well worth the money. The mortise is wide and we needed to chip out quite a bit from the existing mortise, but that was the most difficult part of the installation. Overall, the installation was about an hour, including the time to chip out the mortise and drill out using the templates. Installation would be simpler if the door was a fresh slate, but we were retrofitting an existing 1800s lock set. Having two keys included was a nice perk to the lock set also.

Bought this to replace a deflective mechanism. I am very familiar with this type of lock so it only took 15 mins to install in a steel core door. This lock is used in a high traffic area, and every 2 years or so I have to change the lockset, I got tired of spending so much for this type of lock and decided to try this brand. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. It seems to be as good as the competitors I've used at half the price.

This fits perfectly and now it has been one year.

Biggest issue was lack of accurate measurements in the description. I had a lot of room to work with so it was fine for my application, but more information prior to purchase would assist more people in the future.

Used it to replace a broken Mortise lock. Easy to assemble.
