Very effective trap
Pros: Easy setup; ample retail channels for attractant refills; extremely effective in attracting and capturing yellow jackets.Cons. 1) Manufacturer states each attractant refill bag should last 4 weeks. Perhaps thatās theoretical under optimal (not real world?) conditions. Our 4 week refills last about 7-10 days in direct sun under mild to moderate wind conditions. So, this makes these highly effective refills a tad expensive. 2) Not a fan of the day glow green and yellow coloring of this trap. I would prefer something a bit more discrete, and it looks like a toy which might confuse dogs and little kids as a play thing.Minor quibbles: Removing the outer sheath from the capture cone is a bit clunky at first. It took a minute to get my fingers just right to release the prongs. Itās easy now but first try was annoying. Itās tricky to cut the refill bags without spilling the contents and avoiding getting it on your hands. The bags are small and the liquid seems to fly out. The attractant is clear so itās hard to tell if the cotton ball (which holds the attractant inside the trap) is thoroughly and completely saturated. My application. We sail to Emerald Cove off Catalina Island. Despite being several hundred yards off shore, we get inundated with 20+ yellow jackets at each meal. We place two canisters side-by-side (more effective than two set apart) in the middle of the deck. Magic. We can drink sweetened beverages and proteins in peace. Word spread - the experienced cruisers now buy this product. Just wish the attractant lasted longer as the refills become a tad expensive. That said, I donāt sail there without this product!Pro tip: Donāt throw the empty attractant bag in your galley trash. It will attract yellow jackets into the cabin. I place the empty packet inside the trap. Also, wash your hands thoroughly with soapy water otherwise your hand towel becomes a yellow jacket attractor. No conflict of interest. I was not compensated in any way for this review. I purchased this item and use it as described. I have no affiliation or vested interests with the manufacturer or seller of this product.

Works if you use it right!
I just emptied mine out last night and a few hours into the morning, this is what I came out to. I see people post pictures on here saying it doesn't work. In a few of the pics, they didn't put it together right and one of them, still had the attractant in the package lol. Guys, it works pretty well if you actually use it correctly. I also recommend getting the 10 week refills. Easier so you don't need to deal with putting the liquid on the cotton ball. Also, no, these are not going to eradicate a nest inside of a home. If they've nested in the home, they have far better food sources to choose from. They are great for keeping them out of your yard though! If the attractant doesn't seem to work for you and you're sure you've set it up correctly, try different bait (old meat, cat/dog food, fruit, etc). Also, it pretty much only works for yellow jackets so you have to make sure that's the pest you're dealing with.

Not Impressedā¦
So here recently Iāve noticed a lot more yellow jackets on my porch and throughout the yard, which made me scared to leave my own house. Opening the door was always a gamble cause I never knew if there was going to be a yellow jacket flying around that day. Anyways, after being stung and realizing how potent their venom is, with all the lingering effects (lasting for 5-7 days), I just could not risk one of my kids becoming victims to these flying demons. I thought, surely these traps would do the trick. Sadly, the attractant only worked for 3 days, then quickly wore off. I knew this because approximately after 3 days of having the traps up, they stopped catching more yellow jackets. I had been counting the number of yellow jackets in each trap at the end of each day. I was able to catch 12 in one and 8 in the other. I followed the instructions and placed the traps in well ventilated areas, about 4-5 feet off the ground. The contraption itself is pretty good. As far as I can tell, there have been no escapees. Just for the fact that I have chickens, it wasnāt a complete waste of money for me. Because at the end of the day, I can empty out the trap full of dead yellow jackets and feed them as treats to my chickens. Iām gonna try to fashion my own bait and continue using the traps. From what Iāve researched, they are drawn to sweet rotting fruits like bananas and sugar water. I just put that concoction in one of the traps last night. So far Iāve caught nothing, but I will post an update if I discover a more potent attractant than the one they supply with this. Because 12 and 8 are not very impressive numbers when you are talking about flying demons. Oh and also, I know that the diminished number of yellow jackets in the traps is not because theyāre completely eradicated. Because I have still been seeing 2-3 flying on my porch, and I have also found a couple holes in my yard, just a few feet away from one of the traps, where they have been flying in and out of. So yea, I still have a yellow jacket problem in my yard. All in all, Iād say 1) DIY a cheap trap at home, or 2) If youāre lazy or too busy, just buy these traps without the bait (itās much cheaper without the bait). Also, what I find very confusing about the bait is how they say ā2 weeks worth of bait.ā So does that mean each packet of bait is supposed to last for 2 weeks? Or are you supposed to get 2 packets of bait, that last 1 week per packet??? A lot is very unclear. Even some of the instructions are vague. Just so NOT worth $25

Does not trap, smaller, stinging bees
I bought this to trap small stinging bees that were nesting in the ground. Iāve had them up for five days now, and it has caught a few yellow jackets, but the bees I am having the problem with weāre not in the trap. I guess this would be fine for yellow jackets, but not for my problem.
