I wanted to read, Fueled by Failure: Using Detours and Defeats to Power Progress, by former NFL player and Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom as I thought it was going to be a inspiring story of overcoming defeat and/or injuries to win again or build a new life after sports. Although the book did talk about some epic losses that Bloom suffered in his athletic career, but the book went a slightly different way than I had expected.Bloom does share some of his secrets of how he deals with failure and how he prevents them from allowing failure to get a grip on him and cripple his future endeavors.But instead of Bloom making his point in everyday life situations, Bloom uses various expiries in his business life to demonstrate how his failure fueled him to succeeded and how he took the lessons learned from past failures to succeed.Although the book was not what I had expected it to be, I did learn aolot of good business advice.

Jeremy Bloom was for several years the world's best skier, then a formidable NFL wide receiver and punt returner. In this fascinating and very informative book he shows from his own life and those of others how sometimes failing to reach our goals can actually ignite a stronger determination and likelihood of future success. The book begins with the author's extraordinary sports experiences then expands into how he used the same determination and will to win to develop his own internet company, and also how he expanded this awareness into the non-profit he manages and invests in. Although the author is one of the world's leading athletes, what comes across is a desire to pass on what he has learned, to help others improve not only their game, but their work and way of life. Very highly recommended also for anyone wishing to learn why some athletes reach astounding levels of success while others do not, and how the really great ones share this triumph with others. If you know an athlete or aspiring athlete, this is the book for them.

Jeremy gives the average person hope. To accomplish what he has in life is incredible, even while failing along the way. True success involves overcoming, adapting, and improvising over failures. Jeremy has done that. Read this book if you are struggling with failure...Bloom provides a recipe for success.

Really enjoyed this read and the real-life examples that are included. This book will appeal to athletes, business people and anyone who could use some perspective on turning setbacks into success.

The YouTube clips gives another perspective of Jeremy's work and adds an appreciation of the works he's done as described in his book. It has changed my perspective of American athletes. A great role model for aspiring entrepreneurs.
