That's what I get for buying cheap
This is the second Airdock I've bought. I decided to give this one a try after reading reviews saying it worked with the iPod Touch 4g.The first was an older model that was completely incompatible; ended up giving it to a friend. This one is at least partly compatible. You have to remove the insert to dock the Touch properly, and while sound playback is okay, video playback doesn't work at all. It'll play the sound for the video just fine, but the image displays only on the iPod, and sideways at that. So it's good for charging and listening to music, but not for watching videos- which unfortunately was the main reason I bought it. After rereading the reviews, I noticed none of the ones mentioning the 4g said anything about video playback. Wish I'd noticed that before. One funny thing- the "PowerBlock" AC adapter included with the Airdock actually costs more to purchase separately than with this dock. So I guess I got one good thing out of it.

Good little dock.
Got this dock for my iPod Touch 2nd Generation. Works well! After another dock quit working after less than 10 uses, I ordered this slightly more expensive dock. The Griffin AirDock works exactly as advertised and has worked consistently, but I gave it only 4 stars because the remote is difficult to use: buttons are difficult to see what functions they perform and the "locking" slide on the side of the remote is confusing to use. However, the remote is very powerful and will work through closed, wooden entertainment center cabinet doors from a distance of 25 feet and that is very cool!NOTE: I thought this dock had died too after about a week of use, but it had not. The dock stopped playing audio through my stereo system and would only play audio through my iPod touch's speakers even when it was attached to the dock. The dock was still charging the iPod, but nothing I could do would get audio through the stereo from the dock. Then I plugged in my daughter's iPod Touch into the dock and it played audio out through the stereo fine! That meant the problem was with the iPod, not the dock. I did a search on the net and found the steps to reset the iPod Touch 2nd Gen and after resetting the iPod, the dock once again played audio through the stereo. So, for those who might have a similar problem, here's some info about how to reset your iPod Touch 2nd Gen:Try a "force quit," "soft reset," or "hard reset" as described below:A "hard reset" basically resets certain parameters of your iPod back to default. You will not lose your music or other files. However, some of your settings may reset. From: [...]Try to "force quit" first:1. Press and hold the Home button for about 10 seconds and then release it. If that fixes things then you're all done.Try a "soft reset" next:1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the unit until a red slider appears2. Drag the slider.3. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.4. See if that has fixed things. If a soft reset doesn't work, try a "hard reset":1. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button (bottom middle round button on the front of the iPod Touch) for about ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. It seems to sit at the Apple logo for 30 seconds or so--seems like a loooong time.2. See if that has fixed things. Hope it has!If there are still problems, seek help from Apple's support services.

Jacked up. Volume has to be raised and there is noise
I have an earlier version of a Belkin and the RF remote had a lot more funtionality and it sounded pretty good, but doesn't charge my Itouch. This unit drops the volume when you insert the ipod so you then have to raise the volume any time you pull the ipod off and re-insert.Second there is a lot of digital sounding hash. With the music playing you will never hear it, but pause the ipod and it is quite noticeable. I work in audio for a living and I know it's not normal.

Looks great, but not the best value for an iPod Touch
I took a chance that it would work with the iPod Touch, but it seems to be hit or miss. The charging works great via computer and the provided AC adapter, but I kept getting a connection error via iTunes. [I think Vista is assuming it's a digital camera.]For those interested in my setup, I'm running Windows Vista, iTunes version 7.6.1.9 and have a 16gb iPod Touch (1.1.4 with software upgrade). The universal adapter fit, but didn't seem to improve connectivity. It's not a total bust since I can use it as a stylish charging cradle, I just wish I could sync with it as well.Update: I was able to finally get iTunes to recognize the iPod. It only seemed to work on one of my front USB ports.Quick note - 07/12/08: Upgrading to 2.0 pretty much renders this useless. It will recharge, but iTunes will not recognize an iPod has been attached.

Good unit, but missing key features
The product is effective at displaying video on the TV as well as playing audio files over the TV. However, I find two missing features very annoying. The first is that only the video displays on the TV, not the iPod menu. You can only navigate the menus directly on the iPod. I have my audio/video equipment in my closest so it is annoying to have to get up and down to navigate the iPod. The second missing feature is also quite annoying. On the remote, you cannot fast forward or rewind a video. When you push the buttons designated for forward and reverse, it goes to the next video or the previous video. It does not allow you to use the remote to navigate the video you are displaying. These issues may be with the design of the iPod navigation design vs. the AirDock itself. Regards it's extremely annoying.
