Fit my welding hood with minor mods.

My CHEAP HF auto helmet died after many years. I gifted myself my first ever really nice helmet.I saw this lens replacement, which was the same exact size as my old one, and for the money, I decided to try it. Just got finished TIG'ing with it after installing it in my helmet and it works as it should. All adjustments work as they should and it is significantly faster switching than my (very)old rig.VERY pleased with this purchase.NOTE: The shade adjustment knob turned fully CCW has a detent which switches it off. I imagine if you leave it on, it will run the battery down.

This lens has a replaceable battery. This is a great feature for me. It works as expected and when it stops darkening I can just replace the battery.

I've had two of these units to test. The first one didn't switch at all, although the 'battery low' light flickered, occasionally, when I put in a brand new battery. Both batteries tested at 3.0V "good". The second unit actually did switch. I used the sun for a quick test. When I moved the unit away from the sun, it went dark; when I moved towards the sun, it cleared. Ooops, methinks it was wired on the PC board incorrectly. I'm done with this cheap, poorly manufactured cr*ap.

I was worried because my welding helmet is off brand. It fit perfectly. I love that it has a test button on it. No more surprises, and you can replace the battery on this one.

Only have it for a year. Bought it for work. Almost to a year it started to flicker. Changed the battery but that only fix the issue for couple of days. After some cleaning to the solar panel it went completely dead.

We bought this instead of replacing the whole welding helmet. Husband just used it for the first time yesterday. The lense does not darken. He strained his eyes while welding. Perhaps this particular lense is defective. Seller, please respond.

Is a perfect fit for the dead unit in my metalman helmet. Unfortunately, the first unit arrived with the lens broken. I ordered a replacement, and while it did arrive in one piece, it did not work. Both times, item was sent in an unmarked ziplok bag, then placed in a bubble mailer. Not sure why more care isn't taken with shipping, as there are many unhappy reviews that involve the item arriving broken or damaged.

Did not work after adding batteries (not included, you need 2 CR2032). The latch in the battery cover pushes the positive terminal (indicated in photo). If you're is broken, carefully bend the terminal back to the vertical position, then only turn the cover part way when reinstalling. This is a clear design flaw, and proves that exactly 0 testing was done before manufacturing. In safety devices this does not inspire confidence.Update: Mar 31 2023: this lense quit working entirely last week.

The media could not be loaded.  figured I'd test this before firing up the welder, and boy are my eyes happy i did.Barely shaking the lens causes it to turn off, or flicker, so if I were actually welding with this lens, my retinas would have already melted.here's a demo video just using an LED work light.returning as defective.
