Great way to start the class
Using this for 7th grade bellringer activity as a light review. I plan to skip around as the big ideas do not flow with the curriculum I teach but will work. Starting in the back with “How Do Fireworks Work” or “What Makes Fireflies glow” Fun way to start the year!!! I like the introduction to vocabulary, variation of activities, and at the end of 5 weeks a unit review with a hands on activity. This will more than serve its purpose in my classroom this year.

Very good!
Great for Home Schooling or supplementing public school since they aren't being taught the basics anymore in public school.

Great if you don't have a lab for science
My classroom comes equipped with -nothing. So I have to make do with whatever I can and these series - this and the supplemental companion with hands-on activities - were just what I needed. Highly recommend for teachers looking for good skills based learning without a huge textbook or budget.

Nice book
It was a nice book just to high for my students to use it.

Very Thorough
I have been using the Daily Science books to homeschool. We like the the pacing and the hands-on activities at the end of each concept. The activities are not overwhelming and are easy to do at home. We supplement with videos from Brainpop.com and YouTube. These books are very thorough - a whole science curriculum, in my opinion. I would recommend this series to other homeschooling families.

A good deal
This is good for a weekly homework packet, sub plans, or even an extra credit assignment.

Not A Good Fit for the Average Homeschooler
It is a nice book to have, but unless your other science curriculum is about the same topics covered in the book, your student might be lost. We bought this because we decided to homeschool officially after the schools were shut down. Before moving her on up to 7th grade science curriculums I wanted to make sure she was able to have a "review" of 6th grade science since her school year was interrupted. I figured these short daily read and answer questions was a good format for a little exposure and review. After working up to week 3 of Big Idea 1, have noticed that this seems to be made mostly for science classrooms or for those who have a strong science background. The average homeschooler might have trouble with this book. One example is a daily page that was about selective breeding. Two paragraphs about selective breeding followed by two questions about the passage. One question was relevant to the passage and the other was about grafting, which isn't mentioned in the passage at all (or the previous passages for that week). I had to google search to figure out first, what it is and then, research more to find out how to answer the question so that I understood it enough to explain it to her. Without a full lesson outline on it, it's difficult for me to teach it to my daughter. So if you are not familiar with these "big ideas" then you will spend most of your time trying to teach yourself about them and trying to figure out how to teach them to your student. This was advertised as being a supplement to a science curriculum, so I was hoping it was more in a reading comprehension style. Student gets a mini lesson (review) on a subject and answers questions to show that they understood the text. And of course the text was about scientific topics that are covered in 6th grade. The daily passages are very well done and provide the "review" I was looking for, but the activity/question parts require more than the passage to answer. So if you are a science teacher or if the science curriculum you have chosen happens to hit on these exact topics, this might be a great fit for you. But if you are the average homeschooler, then I would just stick to whatever science curriculum you have and cover these topics as they come up in your curriculum. Another option is to use this book as a starting point and branch out from it (use as a "spine").

Great book
A great daily review for science lovers or especially kids who do not like science because it is just a little bit of info at a time.
