Great book to do Tapas!
This book is the second I get from Panelope Casas, and the recipes are as exact as in Spain.

Great book of recipes for small plates
My grandmother used to say that if you could thumb through a cookbook and find 5 recipes you were pretty sure you would like to try soon, you should buy it. Well, I'm not even done reading the first chapter and I have already come across MORE than 5 recipes I am definitely going to try very soon! So this one looks to be a real winner already. I bought the book as travel research for an approaching trip to Spain; I plan to backpack the 1,000k camino de la plata from Seville to Santiago. As part of my travel research I like to host little dinner parties for friends at which we try to food and wine of the regions which I will be visiting. This little treasure trove is going to be very popular at our little research evenings. I can hardly wait.

A little bit of everything
"Tapas" gives cooks a plethora of recipes from vegetarian to veal, pastries to pates. There's also a wide range of complexity - recipes range from 3 ingredients to 20. For variety and authenticity I would give this book a 5 star rating but it falls short because there are very few photos other than a handful in the middle of the book, and the arrangement of recipes is not ideal. I would prefer the book be sorted by main ingredient, seafood vs. beef for example, but it is arranged by type of tapas (tapas in sauce vs. tapas with bread) which I find much more impractical.

A Good Introduction to Tapas
This is one of Penelopes first books and in my opinion it rates a bit higher than ok. I don't want to be too harsh as the book is 20 years old but the downside is that it is poorly assembled with all of the photos at the center of the book and brief descriptions for each dish.Having said this there are many many recipes (about two on each of 200 pages) making this a good source of ideas and information, but if you're planning on flipping through looking for a photo of something appealing, this is not the book for you.

Great recipes, easy to make!
We've had a copy for years, wine stained and dog-eared from use as the basis of many a successful dinner party. Bought a new one for our niece as a birthday gift as she was many times a guest and dragooned into being a cook. Can't say enough about tapas and the late Ms. Casas' recipes. "Buen provecho!"

Second hand? Book cover was filthy.
I bought this as a gift but the dust cover is filthy, like someone has used it and returned it. Tried cleaning it off but still not in a good enough condition to give a a gift.

A very disappointing it might have lots of different dishes but there is no visual reference to what it should look like so you are making the dish in the dark

If you get inspired by pictures, this book is not for you. Recipes might be great but I haven't made anything because every time I open it looking for inspiration, the lack of pictures disappoints me.

In bad condition
The book has some stains on the pages. Since it's a cook book, I would normally have it open on my kitchen counter while reading the recipe of choice. I didn't feel that this book was in a clean enough state, so I gave it away without reading it.
