Lew'sAmerican Hero Speed Stick 7'6" Heavy Flipping Casting Rod

I am a big fan of Lews rod and reels and own over a dozen so it was very disappointing to receive my new Lews punching rod today with half the eyes bent and the bottom cap missing off the rod handle.

Just got back into bass fishing and had been using a bunch of old fishing equipment, so I've been upgrading each when I can. Bang for the buck is my biggest priority since I'm not a tournament level bass guy.The rod came in perfect condition packed very well in a rod tube with no chance for damage (very different than an inshore Berkeley spinning rod I bought a little while back that came in two boxes taped together that nearly came apart in shipping). All guides were laid straight and the rod is very sharp with the matte color. I like the hook keeper for its location and the snap style instead of a loop so you don't have to pull the hook out of you bait every time you need to use it.The guides aren't micro but are lower and smaller than the ones on the Daiwa rod it replaced. The backbone is stiff but the tip is fast and sensitive. It's listed as heavy but the blank looked to be bigger diameter than a Halo extra heavy my brother fished with yesterday when I took it out. I fished yesterday with a Abu Garcia Black Max 3 spooled with 65lb Power Pro, a 1oz tungsten flip weight, Owner 5/0 Monster flip hook, and Gambler Why Not.Very happy with this purchase because of the value and quality. I will update with feedback when I actually catch a fish with it....

Lew’s American Hero flipping” stick. Lew’s quality and as stiff as I want , Plus money goes to our Vets. Admirable gesture by Lew’s. I get a kick butt rod and our fighting vets aren’t left out. I mated a KastKing Assassin premium reel to it. Whole thing weighes 15.5 oz.- less than 1 lb!!!!Strong and sleek. The blue contrast on the rod looks killer with the blue contrast on the reel.Very aggressive and high quality gear. Yay for me.I bought two rods. I’m going to mate the other Lew’s AH rod with my Sparticus Maximus for a lethal flats redfish and trout killer.Thanks AmazonFor your vast selection of quality fisher’s gear. I purchased two of the 7’6 H rods a year ago. One is spooled with braid and the other with fluorocarbon. Both rods have worked very well for flippin grass and heavy brush. The rods were a little unbalanced but I fixed this issue for about $9 with end cap balancers from mudhole custom tackle.

Good backbone and tip. Perfect for Flipping, pitching, or lighter punching. It's a little long for my preference for frogging, but it could easily be used for that as well. Has exposed blank for easier bite detection like most of my more expensive rods. Used it heavily for two months as of now. Will edit post if It snaps or if i develop issues with it.

Used for fishing shiners for bass in heavy cover. It provides the strength and leverage to overcome weeds, brush and lily pads.
