As always and with anything of the Vitamix blender or accessories they do what they say they do and hold up for life with the right treatment. . .so glad I own a Vitamix.It's just such a workhorse and never failed

I bought this for my classic 5200, 32 Oz cannister, and it works great, with no touching, even tilted at an angle.

Works and fits the 32 oz wet & dry containers. Price seems out of line for a piece of plastic ;-)No way to judge durability except by purposely trying to damage it. It's probably fine. I'm still using a 64 oz container and tamper that belonged to my grandmother about 1976 and it's survived drops and multiple moves to other homes (although the top part of the lid went missing!).

Doggone problem solved
A recently used tamper on the counter and a dog in the kitchen did not stay separated. The tamper was not discovered and rescued before experiencing life as a chew toy. Unlike available knockoffs that might be the right size but be of questionable thickness, I went for this OEM Vitamix tamper.

Exact replacement from Vitamix
My teen daughter was making smoothies for the first time and tried to use our original tamper without the cover on and got too close to the blades. It shattered the tip of the hollow tamper. Glad to find that Amazon had a Vitamix replacement. Needless to say, but my daughter will not make the mistake again with this one.
