Whirlaway 191 & 291 Replacement Garbage Disposal Disposer Stopper Splash Guard

I finally found a Waste King replacement splash guard that allows food to go through. The nominal Waste King replacements on Amazon are not like the original that comes with the disposer. These "Waste King replacements" are made of hard plastic that is impenetrable to food. You have to remove them to use the disposer. This Whirlaway is the solution. It is made of the flexible rubber that easily allows food to go through it and is 3" in diameter, so it fits the smaller drain design of the Waste King disposers.

We did the same as others and bought ones that were just awful trying to replace the one that came in our Waste King disposal.This one was a little slow draining, so merely took scissors and trimmed a little off of the ends of the flaps which made the center hole a little bigger and this made it perfect for us.The rubber is soft enough that food goes through fine like the original one did.I am glad a poster on the Waste King one left a review mentioning this one for us all to use.

Works great so much better than the "Waste King Replacement EZ Mount Garbage Disposal Splash Guard & Stopper - 1025" sold by Waste King which turned to hard useless garbage that sat on the edge of the sink because you couldn't push anything through it. This one works great and is still very soft and pliable after 4 months.

I was happy to find this, and it fit our whirlpool disposal opening perfectly, and there was no problem with water going down the drain. Howere, it is a much different material than the one that came with the disposal. Within a short time it began disintegrating. I took it out to clean and it was literally falling part, pieces of black rubber (or whatever the material is–description says neoprene) all over my sponge and the sink. The whole thing was mostly disintegrated, and made it made a huge mess. I couln't even put it back in the sink. I realized that bits of the black material must have been going down the drain the whole time–not good! Fortunately I had kept the original one that had come with the disposal (I replaced it as it was getting kind of slimy and stinky) so I'm using that one temporarily until I can find another one not made of neoprene which I assume is the problem. I dont' use any chemicals in my sink, jsut natural dish soap and bon ami cleanser so I have no idea what caused this to happen.

There's another product designed for waste king, "Waste King Replacement EZ Mount Garbage Disposal Splash Guard & Stopper - 1025" which is far too rigid to function. Even after trimming the tips of every other splash guard tab, it was too rigid and water backed up.That is not the case with this one. The plastic is soft enough to permit water to flow but rigid enough to prevent splashing when the disposal runs.

I've had a Waste King for years now and the rubber splash guard kept falling into the disposal. It happened from day one, but I just assumed that it was normal. This whirlpool replacement fits really snugly and works perfectly. It wont fall in any more. Wish I knew about this sooner.

The rubber is quite a bit softer than the original and it fits more snugly so it does not come out accidentally.It took some effort to push this in place, however that was not a problem and perfectly acceptable given you do not want it to come out easily. This is soft enough that heavy items will fall through, many other items will go down with a little direct water. Items that do not go down by themselves will go down with a very gentle touch.I am very happy with this product and would buy it again.

Fit my whirlaway disposer perfectly, did not check the model no. first. No tools necessary, just pull out the old one and pop this one right in. Seals tight and the top piece is very handy for washing dishes. Little pieces of food slip right through as you would want it to. Sturdy yet flexible material. Seller shipped 4 days earlier than expected. Highly recommended product.
