Pretty book but
Attached is just one recipe to make flour tortillas… Beautiful book but the recipes are layout as a novel and there’s no way I’m following it when it’s all combined in one paragraph the layout for me is not worth keeping it but it’s a very nice book.

Honestly the best cookbook ever
I was worried about all the hype being just that, hyperbole. but this book is the real deal. If there were no recipes in it, it would be worth it for the photography and the anecdotes about Baha California. But the recipes are outstanding -- every one I tried so far. Plus, for the most part, you can find all the ingredients at a good supermarket, a local Mexican food shop, or online at Amazon. The crab meat tacos we not only the best tacos I ever made but also the best crab recipe I ever cooked. As a bonus any leftovers make a fantastic omelet filling the next morning. We are going to Todos Santos (mentioned in the book) in September and can't wait to check it out in person.

The best Amazon purchase of all time
We ordered this book because we missed eating at David Hussong's restaurant in Valle since can't visit while the border is closed :( We didn't expect for it to totally change how we cooked on almost a daily basis and where we shopped for groceries (El Nopalito > Trader Joe's). There is so much context and instruction in each recipe we are able to make amazing baja cuisine at home on our first attempts. The 8 hr braised lamb is now a Sunday staple and we make a batch of homemade tortillas, rice and beans for lunch almost daily. Everyone we have cooked for loses their minds and then we buy them the book (ordering cookbook #6 right now). Truly my favorite amazon purchase of all time.

As a Baja Califirnia Native I could not recommend it more!
I’ve know David the author since Junior high, and went to high school together, we crossed paths again a few years back when he was working in San Francisco at Cala. His book definitely captures what I grew up eating and what is actually the Baja cuisine, with all its different influences. While reading it(before I start cooking it), I could feel as I was back home, few of the chefs in that area truly captured what Baja is all about. He is definitely one of the best, since he not only knows the region well and honors it, but is trying to push it forward and getting it out there. If you want to cook traditional but somewhat of a modern take of the Californias don’t doubt to buy this book. I can’t stress this enough.

Finally, A True Baja Cookbook
As a frequent visitor to El Valle de Guadalupe, there is finally a cookbook that captures the essence of the unique and unforgettable cuisine that is know as "baja med".This beautiful ode to Baja is just what I've been searching for.David Hussong has delighted our senses with unforgettable meals at his restaurant Fauna and now he is enticing us with recipes and photos that can be recreated at home. The personal stories in this book transport you to this magical part of the world and his recipes are classics but elevated with sophistication, just like the cuisine from Fauna's kitchen! This incredible cookbook is a first of its kind and will quickly become a classic.

A delicious trip to Baja!
This is the kind of book you gobble up quickly and then return to again and again to savor. I'm seeing Baja California in a totally new light! The history of the "2 Californias" is fascinating and written from a deeply personal perspective, the photos take you somewhere special and best of all, the recipes. Everything I've tried has been straightforward to execute and knockout delicious. The salpicon has to be one of the most high reward/low effort dishes ever. Many thanks to the authors for introducing me to another amazing regional Mexican cuisine!

Absolute treasure
I absolutely loved this recipe book. It is a treasure! I love the unique, creative, wonderful recipes from David Castro Hussong who is actually my favorite Mexican chef. And I adore eating at his restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe and then cooking his dishes back home. I am crazy about this book... It’s fantastic food, the beautiful illustrations and the wonderful stories behind them. I purchased more as gifts to some friends that also love cooking.
