What I was looking for.
The mat is nice, sturdy, and pliable. It should hold up well.

Whatever problems there were in the past seem to have been corrected!
I'm glad I didn't let some of the negative reviews scare me off from purchasing this mat--It has worked JUST FINE for me. There may have been issues in the past, but they seem to be corrected now. The mat arrived rolled in a tube and was (and remains) completely crease-free. I have noted that SOME wet-erase markers are a LITTLE hard to erase (Actually, now that I've had it longer, I would recommend not using standard wet-erase markers. Stick with the WASHABLE markers mentioned below.). Using "magic erasers" I have generally been able to clean off any wet-erase residue, but this does vary a bit by color. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Original, 4 CountThe BEST markers I have found to use are actually simply Crayola "washable" markers. Crayola Washable Markers, Broad Point, Classic Colors, 8/Pack (58-7808) I experimented with 8 different colors and left the marker on for several months: ZERO TROUBLE in erasing the marks three months. If I had one small complaint it would be that the grid lines are printed so dark that it is a little hard to make the marker show up over the top of the grid lines, but that is easily overcome by making wider/fatter lines as I draw.I would DEFINITELY recommend this product!

Huge and Durable, just be sure you're using the right markers.
It's absolutely ENORMOUS. I realize the dimensions are in the title, but be sure to take a moment to really pay attention to those numbers. This thing covers my entire dining table (almost eerily exactly). So why the three stars? Two reasons, one of which is minor and may be my own fault, the other is much more big of a deal.Firstly, I used some Staedtler Non-Permanent Markers on this mat, understanding (possibly incorrectly) that those are wet-erase pens which should be fine for this mat. I could *not* get the ink to erase after leaving it on for less than ten minutes, which is a reasonable amount of time since I was running a combat scenario on the mat. Even after using windex, rubbing alcohol, EXPO whiteboard cleaning fluid, and finally a magic eraser, there are still some residual stains from the markers. Since this may be my own fault, I'm not counting it against the mat-- I'm only including it in this review for the reader's information. What really made me rate this mat so low (for me) is that many of the grid lines were worn off even before its first use. None of the marks were worn off so terribly that we couldn't accurately draw a map, but it was disappointing given the cost of the mat and my (previously) unmarred experience with WizDice products. Since the wear is tolerable, I'm not returning the mat, but for those who are picky about this sort of thing, beware. I'm assuming that I can simply draw the lines back on with a sharpie (or apparently even a Staedtler Non-Permenent!).Knowing what I know now, I would definitely still buy this again. Next time I would simply expect to have to take great care in testing which markers I can use, and will expect that I might have to darken in some of the faded/worn-off lines.Edit: Changed review from 3 to 4 stars and modified title, definitely not disappointed any more :) Grid lines were easily drawn back on, and the seller offered a full replacement after hearing of the grid lines wearing off. Great company, Great seller, Great product.

Not great quality
This product is OK. Has several main flaws. First is that they advertise at wet erase but I can't emphasize enough that it really is not. We use brand Vis a Vis wet erase markers and it STILL does not erase cleanly. Very obvious lines are left behind. It does unroll easily and the flexibility of the mat is good. Several lines are printed poorly and the edges are cut very rough. Be careful with what you use on the mat and avoid dark colors as these don't come off when wiped down. I think it needs serious design improvement as it reads in description to wipe off withing 3-4 hours, and I know absolutely no one whose DnD sessions take only 3-4 hrs.

Large and inexpensive, for casual and serious gamers
I have been wargaming and role-playing for over 50 years, and I have worn through a dozen or so "battle mats."This is a very large battle mat, and the price is extremely competitive. If you use a battle mat then it is not going to last forever. (Some of the other reviews read as though you are buying something to pass along to your grandchildren - under normal, weekly or bi-weekly gaming stress and strain, one of these is likely to last 3-4 years max.)Back when Gamescience was the quality place to go to for dice, battle mats, counters, etc., I used to order battle mats strictly from them. Since GS mostly disappeared, I have ordered from a variety of sources, e.g., WizKids, WotC, Paizo, ...Of all of the recent, last ten years purchases, this mat is both the largest and the best price for what you get.(Please see the enclosed pictures.)The reason I bought this extra large mat is that my party was complaining that they did not have enough space on the previous mat to fire long range - not a problem now.I could not be happier with this mat.

Arrived ruined
So I ordered this dispite some of the worse reviews. I thought that I could live with it even if some of the grid lines were not perfect. But I unraveled the grid for the first time after delivery and saw that it had already been drawn on! Not just drawn on but drawn on with the wrong type of marker then had tried to be wiped off, unsuccessful, before It was shipped to me. Blue lines smeared permanently on the map and whatever was used to try and erase the maker also smeared the lines or the grid as well.Everything despite this is ok, ya there are some mess ups in the lines of the of the grid but nothing so bad that it would hinder use of it. The material is good and it's a huge grid. Was really looking forward to playing on it.Really though I can't give it anything more than a one star right now arriving the way it did.

Works well
My only suggestion is to use washable markers instead of expensive wet erase markers.

It's Big and Lightweight
I really like that it is very light and i can carry it around. The printing on the vinyl was crear and crisp and the right measurements. For the price, I think it's great. I am going to enjoy playing miniature wargames on it and making maps for dungeons and dragons. All in all, a sweet deal. Many thanks.

Absolutely not worth it. They can make this product better
GOOD:- The size, color and quality of the grid is excellent. I wish it had worked out!BAD:- I spot tested all kinds of markers, using different solvents on the corner to remove them. NO permanent markers, and NO whiteboard makers can be removed with alcohol or acetone (acetone removes the factory graphics). I then used crayola water-soluble markers, but the color did not take (pigment just beaded). Finally I tried water-soluble chalk markers. These stained the surface and would not come off with any method, the color would just smear. Cash down the drain.- The vinyl kept off-gassing and smelling up the game room.CHANGE:- Find a different kind of material. One that can tolerate all kinds markers, and that doesn't give off a smell.I would pay more for a better version of this product.
