I've only been using this a couple of months but it is working great. I had a problem with the cheaper ones getting clogged with leaves. This has a filter block that makes clogging a lot more difficult. The instructions are accurate and easy to understand. I can't really speak to longevity but the cheaper units lasted about one season due to clogging, causing the motor to overheat. Without the clogging I would anticipate this unit lasting longer.

I absolutely love this fountain kit.I put this little pump in a small metal washtub type container to keep the water from going stagnant. It works perfect.the water depth is around 7 inches with probably an inch of pea gravel on the bottom. My curly rush grass and water hyacinth is doing great,the water stays fresh,and the "bell" attachment is exactly what I was searching for.It comes with another attachment if you're wanting a 2 tier effect. Or, you can add a 12" section of aquarium hose, get a cork wall for your herp, and use it for a waterfall. the slotted box also has a course sponge filter to catch any large debris like decayed plant matter.I'm already preparing a used 26 gallon bowfront that I'll be transferring my water plants to this autumn along with creating a water fall using this pump.I receive it in 2 days from ordering. I bought it 6/25/2016- delivered 6/27/2016 and it has been plugged in and running continuously since. It's 7/14/16.

Works as expected, but, the loudness was not expected. Bought this pump in the past and never had it sound like this. Guess I'm just lucky 🤷🏼‍♀️

A small pump with reasonable performance. Use the filter and circulate water in a plant garden. So far so good

This is my second pump for the shallow end of my koi pond. It does a great job for water aeration. I have a much larger pump and filter but needed something to move the water around in the shallow end. I replace the filter with generic Fluval filter pads which can be wrapped around the pump before putting the cage back on. These filter pads catch a lot more debris than the one provided with the unit.There is one feature that seemed to be the same on the new pump and that is the pump itself staying put on the base. I use black heavy duty rubber bans to keep it secure between filter changes, which I do every 2-3 days during the summer. So that is the downside to this item.Also, my first one which was 2 years old was still working BUT was emitting electricity which I discovered when I put my hand in the water near it and felt a small electrical shock. I have no idea how long that was going on. Fortunately it didn't seem to both my kois. I tossed it and ordered another.

I was hoping this was the same design as a pump I was replacing (after 4 years of continuous use) and it seems to be! I have a very small preform pond & water feature with a few goldfish, and this little number actually does the trick. Filter is easy to clean & the pump keeps going even if I need to clean the filter. It just slows down on water volume- then know it needs a cleaning. Happy fish, happy customer- nice, sturdy little fountain pump!

Happy to have good circulation for my fish. My container garden was overwhelmed with algae and other pumps I tried couldn’t handle it. Water started clearing up within a few hours and pump has done well for a week in substandard conditions. Will be cleaning the filter tomorrow to get my bell shape water back. Pump is running and water is circulating just not in a bell shape right now.Update: rinsed out the filter and pump in 5 minutes. Disassembly and assembly is super easy. Happy to report my bell shape is back.

I purchased this and was not able to install it for a month. Once the fountain was ready it placed the pump and started the fountain. Worked great.....FOR ONE MONTH! It has officially cramped out and is no longer working. Very disappointed and I can only hope my fish survive🤬
