Very precise machine work on these. They grip very well and function smoothly with no play in the handles. The grips are comfortable. The spring that keeps them open is pretty strong, so I advise getting the separate cap they sell to keep them closed for in the toolbox or bag, unless you don't mind using rubber bands or something similar to keep tem closed when storing. They take up too much real-estate if you don't. I've bought 7 pair of the Neji-saurus pliers and haven't been disappointed with any of them. Durability should not be an issue. Japanese tool steel quality is right up there with German and US tool steel. They're not something that will be used all the time, but they can save your butt when you've done everything just short of drilling for an extractor. And if you have to drill, you could wind up needing to tap for new threads altogether. A tool like this just might save a person from having to get into that extra mess.

I'd say the pliers will grip screws up to maybe a grade 5 hardness, and get the job done. Something like a grade 8, and you'll just destroy the unique serrations on your pliers.I have used these pliers about a dozen times since receiving them, on various screws, and small bolts. They are a much faster, and cleaner option than using an EZ-Out, or a reverse toothed screw extractor. They're cleaner and faster than grinding a notch in the head of a screw, and bearing down on the screw with a larger screwdriver. Way faster and easier than drilling out a screw, or using a reverse drill bit (I'm old enough to remember those little beauties).If you buy a pair of these pliers, do yourself a favor, and purchase the matching cover. Since these handy little pliers (YES, there is more than one size, for larger screws!) are spring loaded, they are open in the resting position. The cover will hold them closed, so they tuck into your pocket, tool pouch, box, or bag much more neatly. Plus, the cover matches the handles...Let's just say that if you like the "Transformers" look, the cover really completes the look; like they will transform into the ENGINEER mascot, "Urus" the screw eating space dinosaur. Used to grab the screws holding the cheap wheels of my Weber Genesis e210 gas grill . The original machine thread screws have a nut welded to the bottom of the bracket and after sitting outside through winters covered with a grill cover the nuts rusted and the screws were fused to the nuts . I sprayed a penetrating oil on them and let sit for a week . Then I received the pliers from Amazon. And removed the screws which performed excellent however the screws were so cheap the heads on one wheel sheared off so I had to redrill and use self tappers . The pliers are of excellent quality with nice rubber handles and yes they grabbed the screw head very well . Weber just used very poor screws and wheels on this grill , but the grill is fantastic I replaced the wheels and will probably get another 10 years out of it . Pliers worked fantastic I will be using them again .

As soon as I received this little jewel, I used it to remove a stripped screw on bifold closet door. It worked within one minute and I was easily able to replace the knob. I really hate to admit this but I worked on that screw for hours the previous day. Finally, I watched a YouTube video where the instructor recommended these pliers as one of the methods to remove a screw. An alternative was using a drill; however, I'm not the most mechanically inclined individual and would probably end up drilling a hole in my hand. I rarely review items but these pliers are well worth taking my time to tell you about a really functional product.

This tool is incredible. I had a seized Phillips head bolt on a rusted door plate that I stripped to round with an impact. These pliers made easy work of getting that bolt out. The grips are sturdy and the tool doesn't feel cheap. I can tell they will last a long time.

Great for stuck screws or security screws that are “permanent” I used to them removed a deadbolt that had security screws on it.
